Connection and starting

1.
Unbalanced input: This is the standard input for all common analog sources in the consumer electronics field.
Here you can connect the source by means of the RCA cable ("B", see p.12) which is part of the accessory kit.
2., 3.
Balanced inputs: To these inputs you can connect sources which provide balanced outputs, such as HighEnd CD
players or professional mixing consoles. The input provides both jacks, XLR jack (3) and TRS jack (2).
Remark: These two jacks are connected in parallel internally, so they shouldn't be sourced by different
signal sources.
On the other hand, signals which are applied to one of the balanced inputs (2 or 3) and to the unbalanced input
(1) are mixed.
4.
Digital input, compliant to AES/EBU standard: This input can work with signals according to the AES/EBU stan-
dard which is currently used in the professional studio technique.
The digital data stream contains both stereo signals (left and right). By means of the switch "6" the channel which
should be reproduced has to be selected.
The two digital inputs (4 and 5) have different priorities. Is a valid data stream applied to both digital inputs, the
audio data of input 4 are primarily processed.
5.
Digital input and parallel output, compliant to S/PDIF standard: This input can work with signals according to the
S/PDIF standard, which is used by most devices in the consumer electronics field.
The digital data stream contains both stereo signals (left and right). By means of the switch "6" the channel which
should be reproduced has to be selected.
6.
Channel selector switch for the digital inputs (4 and 5): If you would like to drive the powered speaker with a
digital signal source, you have to select the reproduced audio channel by means of the channel selector switch.
In a stereo system you should make sure to select the appropriate channel at each speaker.
7.
Selector switch for analog or digital input: By means of this switch, you select if the powered speaker reproduces
the signal provided by the source which is connected to the analog input or the digital input.
Remark: If this switch is not switched to the appropriate position, you will not hear any sound.
8.
Master Volume control: By means of this control you can adjust the reproduced volume. In a stereo setup you
have to make sure that the controls of both speakers are adjusted to the same level. Otherwise you will gain an
unbalance between the two channels.
