Explosive atmosphere type and zone
The valve must not be used outside the specified range (see paragraph 1Product use ), in particular it is not
intended for equipment category M1group l (mines) zone 0 group II (gases) and zone 20 group III (dust).
Risk of explosion.
Surface temperature
When selecting the valve, the surface temperature requirement of the valve must be taken into account.
It must be min. 25 °C lower than the temperature necessary to initiate an explosion of an explosive
atmosphere of a given composition. If the initiation temperature is exceeded an explosion will occur.
Handling in an explosive atmosphere
It is forbidden to install, disassemble, repair or replace the valve in an exlosive atmosphere.
Risk of explosion.
Maximum operating pressure
The SD3EX-C2*S5(S6) valve for a maximum working fluid pressure of 350 bar. If the maximum pressure is
exceeded, the valve may be damaged and the valve may rupture if the pressure rating is exceeded.
Maximum hydraulic output
In section 4.6 of the product catalogue for the operating limits for each spool type. The hydraulic capacity is
given by the product of the working pressure and the volumetric flow rate. If the instantaneous power exceeds
the curve limit, the valve may lose function. The spool is subject to excessive hydrodynamic forces the valve will
not stop and as a result, control of the appliance will be lost.
Installation of the valve
The valve may only be installed in the corresponding chamber. The seals must not be damaged. The valve must
be tightened to the specified tightening torque of 35 + 5 Nm. Otherwise, there is a risk of leakage of the
working fluid and pressure release of the valve. (For details see paragraph 7.2 Product installation)
Purity of the working fluid
Indirectly controlled poppet valves are sensitive to contamination of the working fluid because the control
contains nozzles of small diameter. If the nozzle becomes clogged, the valve function will be lost and thus the
control of the appliance will be lost. The recommended maximum contamination of the working fluid is
19/16/13 ISO 4406.
