8. Commissioning

a) Connection

Electrical connection:
• To take the device into operation, first connect the enclosed mains cable to the voltage supply socket B2
at the rear of the radio.
• Then plug the mains plug of the cable into a mains socket.
• If you want to connect the internet radio to your network and the internet via a LAN cable, connect it
now. Otherwise, just skip the item.
For this, connect a 1:1-connected network cable to the RJ45-socket of the internet radio. The other side
of the cable is connected to a free network port of your router or network switch.
Only one network connection can be active at a time in the radio. If you enable, e.g., the LAN
connection, the wireless connection is disabled, and vice versa.
• Now turn on the switch at the rear of the device B1.
• The internet radio is now ready for operation.
Connection of additional devices:
The device has one connection socket (3.5 mm jack plug) each for headphones and an external device,
such as an MP3 player, and a line output at the back.
There also is a USB connection for playing back music. You can connect USB drives or external USB hard
discs. For the specifications, see the technical data of these instructions.
• To connect headphones to the product, just connect the plug to the headphones socket B5 of the internet
radio. The speaker is automatically switched off and the music is played back on the connected head-
phones.
• To connect an external device to the radio, connect its output to the AUX socket B3 of the radio with the
corresponding cable.
Then switch on the external device and start playback. You need to switch the internet radio to mode
"AUX".
• To connect the internet radio e.g. to an amplifier, connect the line output B4 to the input of your amplifier
with the corresponding cable. The speaker is automatically switched off and the music is played back on
the external device.
• Connect your USB drive or your external USB hard disc to the USB-port B6. The radio will recognise the
device automatically. The display shows the USB symbol in the upper right.
For the Media Center, switch to "USB". In this context, see chapter 10. f).
