4. General notes

4.2 Intended use

These scales are used to determine the weight of persons and may only be used
for this purpose. Any other use is prohibited. These scales are intended for use in
legal metrology. The scales comply with the provisions of the applicable European
directives and regulations.
The manufacturer's medical product advisor must be notified in writing of any
faults which could endanger the patient and of any faults which could lead to the
falsification of measurement results. These instructions for use are an integral part
of the equipment. Precise observance of these instructions is a prerequisite for the
intended use and correct operation of the devices.
The devices may only be operated by qualified personnel. Operation by the patient is
not intended.
Please ensure that the scales are not subjected to permanent loads. In addition,
shocks and overloading of the scales in excess of the specified maximum load must
be avoided at all costs. This may damage the scales.

4.3 Classification

Class I medical devices with measuring function.
Electrical protection class II (protective insulation, no protective earth
connection).
Application part
The scale is a Class 1 medical device with a measuring function.
The medical device is a type B applied part and is intended for direct
contact by the patient. The leakage currents correspond to the classi-
fication of type B applied parts
4.4 Safety instructions
These scales are designed for medical use. The user must be familiar with the ope-
ration of the scale. Before operating the scale, please read the information in the
operating instructions carefully. It contains important instructions for installation,
intended use and maintenance of the device. The manufacturer is not liable if the
following instructions are not observed. Improper installation will void the warran-
ty.
