1 Safety
• Read through these instructions before install-
ation.
• Follow the instructions.
• Pass these instructions on to the owner/operat-
ing company for safekeeping.
2 Specialist installer qualifications
Installation is only permitted when carried out by
trained roofing specialists. The activities de-
scribed in these installation instructions, require
the specialist knowledge acquired from complet-
ing professional training to become a carpenter,
roofer or plumber. You are considered a trained
roofing specialist if your specialist training and ex-
perience means that you are familiar with the rel-
evant standards and guidelines.

3 Intended use

The roof duct provides ventilation solutions in
apartments without a vertical exterior wall (e.g.
penthouses).
The roof duct is intended:
• for installation in pitched roofs of 25°- 55° with
various roofings and different roof thicknesses.
• for use with Maico PP 45, PPB 30 products
and outside air opening.
The roof outlet may only be used following correct
installation by the roofing specialist.

4 Safety instructions

The unit must not be used in the following
situations under any circumstances:
• If the product is damaged.
• Mounting/installation in roofs with insufficient
load-bearing capacity and/or with insufficiently
dimensioned mounting material.
• Installation which does not take planning spe-
cifications into account.
• Installation in non-permanent buildings, such as
in mobile homes.
Read and observe the safety instructions. Ask
your specialist installer to instruct you in how
to use the unit.

DANGER Risks for children and people
with reduced physical, sensory or mental cap-
abilities or a lack of knowledge.
The unit may only be installed and cleaned by
people who can safely recognise and avoid the
risks associated with this work.
CAUTION Risk of injury when handling
sharp-edged housing parts/sharp sheet metal
parts/housing parts of the roof duct or pack-
aging.
Wear protective gloves if necessary.
DANGER Risk during transport from
heavy or falling loads.
Observe applicable safety and accident preven-
tion regulations.
Do not stand under a suspended load.
Check unit for transport damage. Do not commis-
sion a damaged unit.
DANGER Risk of injury when working at
heights.
Use appropriate climbing aids (ladders). Stability
should be ensured, if necessary have the ladders
steadied by a 2nd person. Ensure that you are
standing securely and cannot lose your balance
and that there is no one under the installation loc-
ation.
DANGER Risk of injury when working on
roofs.
Use appropriate protection to prevent falling.
Wear the protective clothing required. Cordon off
installation area so unauthorised people cannot
enter.
CAUTION Risk from falling roof tiles.
Secure any loose roof tiles before beginning with
installation work. Cordon off installation area so
unauthorised people cannot enter.
Wear a hard hat.
CAUTION Risk of burns on hot surfaces
due to prolonged solar radiation.
Wear protective gloves.
CAUTION Risk to health when handling
construction foam.
Breathing complications or risk of suffocation
may occur.
Wear protective gloves and goggles.
Use non-pressing/non-spreading construction
foam.
