Green vegetable varieties
Green leaves: kohlrabi leaves, cauliflower
leaves, head lettuce, iceberg lettuce, spinach,
chard, red beet leaves, etc.
Herbs: parsley, chives, basil, cress, alfalfa,
clover, etc.
Wild Herbs: ground elder, stinging-nettle,
dandelion leaves, etc.
Blades: wheatgrass, spelt grass, etc.
The Green Star™ Health Juicer works extre-
mely efficiently when juicing leaves, herbs,
and blades. It simply pulls in these raw mate-
rials; you should not push them down with the
plastic plunger. These types of vegetables are
very tasty when mixed with carrot juice and
apple juice, if desired.
When you juice grain grasses or herbs, you will
generally have a small yield. The more raw
material you juice, the higher the percental
yield. This is why we recommend juicing hard
vegetables (i.e. carrots, beetroots) immediately
after the grasses or herbs. If the juice becomes
lumpy, as can sometimes happen in green
juices, simply stir it.
Wheatgrass juice PURE
1. Make sure that there are no food residues
in the juicer
2. Tighten the outlet adjusting knob (1).
Switch on the device and insert the wheat-
grass (at room temperature). Occasionally
spray the grass with some water.
3. By doing this, the necessary pressure is
built up inside so that the pulp can be
discharged.
4. As soon as the juice starts flowing out,
open the outlet adjusting knob (1) half way
or unscrew it completely.
5. Before juicing, add about 1 tsp. of cooking
oil into the feeding chute to minimise foa-
ming. Good oil, especially flax oil that is
rich in omega 3 fatty acids, also improves
the utilisation of your green juice! If you
prefer using less oil, you can also brush the
twin gears with oil before juicing. To pro-
50
duce even less foam, cool the raw material
and, if desired, place the twin gears in the
refrigerator for a few hours before juicing.
6. If the appliance should block up, pour
water into the feeding chute to clean the
screen and outlet. Then you can continue.
When you juice wheatgrass, the pulp is very
dry and the juice is very foamy.
Chlorophyll tends to bind oxygen. Other jui-
cers do not produce any foam, but discharge
very moist pulp. They leave a large share of
the valuable substances in the pulp instead of
transferring them to the juice.
The foam of wheatgrass juice was analysed,
and it was determined that it has an extremely
high nutritional content, and, aside from that, it
is very delicious. Be sure to drink the foam with
your juice or just stir it into the juice.
