Stabimed
Intended purpose
Stabimed is a knee support brace which
limits flexion and extension.
Indications
All indications that require
reinforcement of the physiological
stabilisation of the knee joint and/or
stress relief of the joint, such as:
• Following injury to the collateral
ligament
• For knee instability
• Following meniscal injury
• For knee osteoarthritis

Contraindications

None known at present.
Risks / Side Effects
If the aids are too tight, this can cause
local pressure sores or constriction of
blood vessels or nerves. Therefore you
should consult the doctor treating you
before you use it if the following
circumstances apply to you:
• Condition or injury of the skin in the
area of application, particularly with
infectious indications (excessive heat,
swelling or reddening)
• Paraesthesia and circulatory disorders
(e.g. as seen in diabetes, varicose veins)
• Lymph drainage disorders – equally,
swelling of soft tissue adjacent to the
area of application which is not related
to a condition
When wearing snug-fitting aids, this can
result in localised skin inflammation or
irritation that is due to mechanical
irritation of the skin (particularly in
conjunction with sweating) or due to the
composition of the material.
Intended patient groups
Healthcare professionals should provide
care to the adults and children, applying
®
the available information on the

Setting the flexion / extension limits
Only to be carried out by an
orthopedic technician.
Extension limit wedge, EXT (limits
extension): 0°, 10°, 20°, 30°
Flexion limit wedge, FLEX (limits flexion):
0°, 10°, 20°, 30°, 45°, 60°, 75°, 90°
Can be immobilised at:
0°, 10°, 20°, 30°
For immobilising the orthosis first insert

The medial (inside) and the lateral
(outside) wedge settings must
always be the same.
1. Only change the wedges if the
ortheses are in the lateral supports.
2. 0° extension wedge is pre-installed in
your knee brace.
3. To change the wedges, open the top
and bottom latches. Now, simply
remove the wedges.
4. In the wedge set, the replacement
wedges are marked R – FLEX, L – FLEX
or R – EXT, L – EXT and with the
respective angles.
5. Insert the new flexion wedge first and
the new extension wedge next into
the joint. Then close the two latches to
secure the wedges. Repeat the process
with the other joint.
WARNING: The extension and flexion
wedges always have to be inserted.
6. Move the brace joints to check if the
wedges are securely seated.
