First Steps

Give it some power

First, give your router the power it needs through the power supply unit!

Now connect the router to the local area network. Please set the node/hub switch:
'node' if you are connecting the LANCOM Office Router to a network, 'hub' if you are
connecting directly to a workstation.

Connect the router to an ISDN S
make use of charge monitoring and charge statistics, apply to your telecom carrier for the
'Charge transmission during the connection' ISDN feature (as per AOCD).

Switch the device on at the back. The 'Power' LED on the front panel lights up after a
short self-test. The 'LAN Link' LED indicates that your router is correctly connected to the

Software installation

Install the TCP/IP network protocol and then the ELSA LANconfig configuration software
on the computer from which you want to setup your router. If the setup program does
not start automatically when the CD is placed in the drive, click on 'autorun.exe' on the
ELSA LANCOM CD in Windows Explorer and follow the instructions in the installation
routine.

Configuring the LANCOM Office Router

The first time ELSA LANconfig is run, the new LANCOM Office Router is automatically
detected on the TCP/IP network and can immediately be configured.
The configuration procedure prepares your router for your specific application. When
configuring the router with ELSA LANconfig , you can use the setup wizards to quickly and
conveniently guide you through the required settings.
