Lubricating cables and joints

The condition of the outer sheath on the throttle and
cold start cables should be checked at regular intervals.
The sheath should show no signs of kinking or cracking.
Work the controls to make sure the inner cables slide
smoothly inside the sheath: if you feel any friction or hard
spots, have the cable replaced by a Ducati Dealer or

Authorized Workshop.
To avoid this inconvenience, in the case of the throttle
cable, we recommend opening the throttle control by 1
unscrewing the two fastening screws (1, fig. 58) and
greasing the cable ends and pulley with SHELL Advance
Grease or Retinax LX2.

When closing the throttle control, be careful to insert
the cables in the pulley.
Refit the cover and tighten the screws (1) to 10 Nm.
To ensure that the joint on the side stand works smoothly,
clean off any dirt and apply SHELL Alvania R3 to all points
subject to friction.
