3.1 General Instructions on Equipment and Product Damage

Disconnecting plugs while under voltage will destroy the electronic compo-
nents of the valve system!
Large differences in potential occur when disconnecting plugs under voltage,
which can destroy the valve system.
Make sure the relevant system component is not under voltage before as-
u
sembling the valve system or when connecting and disconnecting plugs.
An address change will not be effective during operation!
The bus coupler will continue to work with the previous address.
1. Never change the address during operation.
2. Disconnect the bus coupler from the power supply UL before changing the
positions of switches S1 and S2 .
Malfunctions in the fieldbus communication due to incorrect or insufficient
grounding!
Connected components receive incorrect or no signals.
1. Make sure that the ground connections of all valve system components are
electrically connected to each other and grounded.
2. Verify proper contact between the valve system and ground.
Malfunctions due to improperly laid signal lines!
Connected components receive incorrect or no signals.
Lay the signal lines within buildings. If you lay the signal lines outside of
u
buildings, the lines laid outside must not exceed 42 m.
The valve system contains electronic components that are sensitive to electro-
static discharge (ESD)!
If the electrical components are touched by persons or objects, this may lead
to an electrostatic discharge that could damage or destroy the components of
the valve system.
1. Ground the components to prevent electrostatic charging of the valve sys-
tem.
2. Use wrist and shoe grounding straps, if necessary, when working on the
valve system.

5 About This Product

5.1 Product description

The valve system is a pneumatic valve system with electrical control. With the
valve system you can distribute stored pressure energy to your system compo-
nents in a targeted manner, e.g. to control pneumatic cylinders. Thanks to its
modular design, you can implement numerous pneumatic functions in general
machine construction. The valve system is used to control the valves via the D-
Sub multipole plug or a bus coupler.
The AV valve system is used to control up to 40 solenoid coils with a D-Sub con-
nection or up to 128 solenoid coils with a bus connection.
The AV-BP valve system is bottom ported. It is possible to control up to 32 valves.
