OPERATION

________________________________________
Warning: Electrical shock can use death or
injury. Avoid touching exposed conductors of
electricity.
________________________________________
The SPEED START system is designed for use with
vehicle or boats. You will not need a host vehicle or
230VAC power supply.
You can also use this system as a portable power
source of 12 VDC in remote areas or emergencies.
To use the SPEED START system to start your
vehicle:
- Make sure the vehicle or boat to be started is not
running. Connect the red clamp to the positive
terminal on the vehicle's battery.
- Connect the black clamp to a non moving metal
part of the engine, not to the negative terminal.
- Switch the vehicle or boat ignition to the ON
position. Wait for about a minute. Switch the boat
or vehicle to the start position for no more then 5 to
6 seconds. If the vehicle or boat engine does not
start, wait at least for 3 minutes before retrying.
________________________________________
Caution: Never allow the red and black
clamps to touch each other or a common
conductor.
________________________________________
- When the engine is running, disconnect the black
clamp first and return the cable to its stored
position on the start position.
- Disconnect the red clamp and return the cable to
its position on the system.
- As soon as possible recharge your SPEED
START system.
LED indicator devices (Fig.A-1)
These light up during recharging:
- Red "charging" LED (charging in progress).
- Green "charged" LED (end of charging)
LED indicator devices (Fig.A-3)
These light up when the button in Fig.A-2 is held
down.
- Red "recharge" LED (battery is flat! recharge it!)
- Yellow LED (battery is low, recharge it)
- Green "full" LED battery is 100% charged
To use your SPEED START system to power
appliance:
- Lift up the cover of the cigarette lighter receptacle
(FIG. A-4).
- Insert the cigarette lighter plug from the appliance
into the cigarette lighter receptacle (FIG. A-4).
Using the SPEED START when changing vehicle
batteries:
- Lift the cigar-lighter cover (Fig.A-4) on the
Speed Start
- Insert the plug of the cable supplied (Fig. B-2)
and connect the free plug to the cigar-lighter
socket on the vehicle.
- Change the vehicle battery: the on-board
electronics will continue to be powered during
this operation.
- Disconnect the Speed Start and close the cover
on the cigar-lighter socket.
RECHARGING
________________________________________
Important! To maintain the reliability of the
battery, charge it for 12 hours before using it,
every time it is used and at least every 3 months.
________________________________________
It is possible to recharge the unit from a 230V-
50/60Hz power supply using the cable in Fig.B-1
OR from a 12VDC power supply, on board the
vehicle, using the cable in Fig.B-2.
It's recommended that the battery is kept fully
charged at all times. If the battery is left in a low
charge state it could shorten battery life. Keep in
mind that the time required to recharge the battery
depends on the number of previus battery jump
starts. To check and see if the battery is low, press
the button (FIG. A-2).
To recharge using 230VAC:
- Connect the power supply cable (Fig.B-1) to the
plug on the side of the Speed Start (Fig.A-6) and
then to a 230V 50/60Hz power outlet.
- Leave to recharge until the red "charging" LED
goes off and the green "charged" LED lights up.
- This Start System is equipped with an automatic
cut off so you can not overcharge the battery The
