2. Putting the compressor into
operation
Connecting to the power supply:
The compressor is equipped with a power cable and
an earthing-pin plug for connection to any 230 V ~
50 Hz earthing-contact socket outlet with a 16 A
fuse. Long supply lines, extensions, cable reels and
similar cause voltage dips and may prevent the
motor from starting. Sluggishness makes starting dif-
ficult at low temperatures under freezing point (5°C).
Changing the oil plug and assembling the air fil-
ter:
Remove the cover from the oil filler opening with a
screwdriver and insert the supplied sealing plug (14)
into the oil filler opening.

Maintenance and cleaning

● Condensation water
The condensation water must be drained off each
day by opening the drain valve (15) on the floor of
the device (Fig. 4). Make sure beforehand that the
tank is not under pressure.
● Safety valve
The safety valve is set to the maximum pressure
of the pressure vessel. It is prohibited to adjust the
safety valve or to remove its lead seal.
● Regular oil level checks
The level of oil has to be visible in the sight-glass
between the red check-point mark and the upper
edge of the sight-glass.
Changing the oil: Recommended grade SAE
15W/40 or equivalent.
The first oil change should be carried out after 100
operating hours. Thereafter you should drain the
oil and replace it with new oil at intervals of 500
operating hours.
● Changing the oil
Switch off the engine and pull the mains plug out
of the socket. Release any existing air pressure.
After removing the cover you can unscrew the oil
drain plug (Fig. 5/13) from the compressor pump.
To prevent the oil from running out in an uncontrol-
led manner, hold a small metal chute under the
opening and collect the oil in a vessel. If the oil
does not drain out completely, we recommend til-
ting the compressor slightly.
Dispose of the old oil at a drop-off point for old
oil.
When the oil has drained out completely, reinsert
the oil drain plug (13). Fill in new oil until it comes
up to the red mark in the oil level window. Finally
reinsert the oil-filler neck (Fig. 6/14)
● Cleaning the intake filter
The intake filter (11) prevents the drawing in of
dust and dirt. It is essential to clean this filter after
at least every 300 hours in service.
A clogged intake filter will decrease the compres-
sor's performance dramatically. The filter can be
removed as shown in Fig. 7. Clean the filter with
petroleum ether and reinsert it.
Caution! Wait until the compressor has cooled
completely! Risk of burns!
