1. Wichtige Hinweise
Lesen Sie vor der ersten Benutzung des Produktes bzw.
dessen Einbau diese Anleitung komplett und aufmerksam
durch. Bewahren Sie diese Anleitung auf. Sie ist Teil des
Produktes.
Das Produkt richtig verwenden
Das Produkt darf ausschließlich dieser Anleitung ge-
mäß verwendet werden. Dieser Decoder ist bestimmt
• zum Einbau in eine Modelleisenbahn-Lokomotive mit
Gleichstrommotor
• zum Betrieb mit einer Digitalzentrale, welche die Di-
gitalsysteme Märklin-Motorola und / oder NMRA-
DCC verwendet
• zum Betrieb in trockenen Räumen.
Jeder darüber hinausgehende Gebrauch gilt als nicht
bestimmungsgemäß. Für daraus resultierende Schä-
den haftet der Hersteller nicht.
2. Inhalt
Beachten Sie:
Der Decoder ist mit integrierten Schaltkreisen
(ICs) bestückt. Diese sind empfindlich gegen elek-
trostatische Aufladung. Berühren Sie daher den
Decoder nicht, bevor Sie sich „entladen" haben.
Dazu reicht z.B. ein Griff an einen Heizkörper.
Packungsinhalt überprüfen
Kontrollieren Sie nach dem Auspacken den Lieferumfang
auf Vollständigkeit:
► Decoder 5248 mit Anschlusskabel
und NEM 652-Stecker,
► diese Anleitung.
Produktionsbedingt kann es vorkommen, dass die Platine
nicht komplett bestückt ist. Dies ist kein Mangel.
3. Funktionen
Programmierung der Funktionen:
Die Funktionen des Decoders richten Sie über die
CV- oder Registerprogrammierung ein. Sämtliche
Einstellmöglichkeiten finden Sie in Kapitel 6.
Ansteuerung im Digitalbetrieb
Der Lokdecoder 5248 ist ein Multiprotokoll-Decoder, der
sowohl Signale im DCC-Format als auch im Motorola-
Format auswertet. Er erkennt automatisch, in welchem
Format die Zentrale die Signale an seine Adresse sendet.
Der Adressumfang ist von dem Format abhängig, mit
dem der Decoder angesteuert wird.
Motorola-Format: 255 Adressen. Im Motorola-Format
kann der Decoder mit 14 oder 27 Fahrstufen betrieben
werden. Die Ansteuerung aller 27 Fahrstufen ist nur mit
Zentralen möglich, die diesen Modus im Motorola-Format
unterstützen. Bei Zentralen, die nur die Ansteuerung von
14 Fahrstufen unterstützen, kann nur jede zweite verfüg-
bare Fahrstufe angesteuert werden.

Using the product for it's correct
purpose
This product must only be used as required in this man-
ual. This model is intended
• for installation in model railroad layouts and diora-
mas,
• for connection to an authorized model railroad trans-
former or an electrical control system connected to
one
• for operation in a dry area.
Using the product for any other purpose is not ap-
proved and is considered incorrect. The manufacturer
cannot be held responsible for any damage resulting
from the improper use of this product.
2. Content
Caution:
Integrated circuits (ICs) are inserted on the decod-
er. They are sensitive to static electricity. Do not
touch components without first discharging your-
self. Touching a radiator or other grounded metal
part will discharge you.
Checking the package contents
Check the contents of the package for completeness af-
ter unpacking:
► Decoder 5248, with connecting wires and NEM 652
interface connector,
► this manual.
N.B. For technical reasons it is possible that the PCB is
not completely inserted. This is not a fault.
3. Functions
Programming the functions:
Please program the functions of the decoder by
CV or registerprogramming. Chapter 6 shows a
table with a complete overview of the possibilities.
Driving in digital operation
The locomotive decoder 5248 is a multiple protocol de-
coder, that can operate with and automatically recognises
both DCC or Motorola formats.
The number of addresses is dependant on the format be-
ing used.
Motorola-Format: 255 addresses. In the Motorola for-
mat the decoder can be driven in 14 or 27 speed levels.
Driving all 27 speed levels can be done only with central
units which support this mode (e.g. MasterControl). With
central units which allow 14 speed levels only, it is only
possible to select every second speed level.
