This controlled release and resulting fluid accumulation is reported to promote new connective tissue formation by
providing the autologous fill necessary to elevate the depressed areas. This mechanism is well documented with

needle-based septae release procedures . Vacuum-assisted tissue capture is enabled using a Vacuum Handpiece
connected to a commercially available, electrically powered suction pump which is used to draw the tissue up into the
recess within the handpiece. A Guidance Platform attached to the Vacuum Handpiece and 22G Needle can be used
with a commercially available syringe kit for the introduction of physician-prepared local anesthetic solution at the
precise depth of the intended release. After the local anesthetic has taken effect, a separate Guidance Platform is
attached to the Vacuum Handpiece and the system used to provide controlled subcutaneous dissection (release) of

the subcutaneous tissue in focal areas. With the Cellfina System, the depth of the plane of release (6 or 10 mm) is
controlled through the use of the Vacuum Handpiece, and the Guidance Platform controls the size of the release at
that depth. The release is controlled through the mechanical action of a single-use reciprocated Micro-Blade
Assembly attached to a Motor Module which is moved by the physician through a defined path in the Guidance
Platform.
