Framework design for veneered restorations
Frameworks to be ceramically veneered are designed to reduced anatomical contour to provide
maximum support for the veneer The frameworks can be veneered using the press-on technique or
the build-up technique
Technical specifications
Cercon® base/Cercon® ht:
Type II, class 5 (pursuant to DIN EN ISO 6872:2015)
• CTE: 105 μm/m · K (25–500 °C)
• Modulus of elasticity: 210 GPa
• Flexural strength: approx 1,200 MPa
(three-point flexural testing)
Composition (in % by mass)
Cercon® base/Cercon® ht:
• Zirconium oxide
• Yttrium oxide 5 %
• Hafnium oxide 2 % or <3 % (Cercon® ht)
• Aluminium oxide and silicon oxide <1 %
(total 100 %)
Finishing:
• Processing with Cercon® brain: As described in the Cercon® brain Instructions for Use
Processing with Cercon® brain expert/brain Xpert:
For processing the blanks, use Type 0 Cercon® brain expert/brain Xpert cutters (PMMA) For detailed
instructions, please refer to the Cercon® brain expert/brain Xpert Instructions for Use
Sandblasting:
The sandblasting aid facilitates the removal of objects from the blank It helps prevent framework fracture
or other damage to the objects Use aluminium oxide (50 μm, max 15 bar) to sandblast the labial and
buccal sprues of the objects and the "tongue" connector, because the objects must be sintered together
with that "tongue" By trimming excess edges at the bottom of the "tongue" you can give the objects
more stability on the sintering block (The smaller objects nested inside the "tongue" are detached com-
pletely and sintered separately)
