Centering and clamping means

Suitable centering and clamping means are required to
fi x a wheel onto the balance machine. It should be cle-
an and undamaged in order to enable a high accuracy
when balancing a wheel.
7.1

Mid centering device

(Extend of delivery)
For all car wheels with a hole in the centre and which
therefore are able to be clamped using the centering
and clamping means provided with the machine. The
scope of delivery includes 3 centering cones for rims
with a centre bore of between 42 mm and 111 mm.
Further cones and centering means are available as
special accessories for larger type wheels such as those
for SUVs and transporters.
Important to note that only when dismounting the com-
plete centering means is it important to remount it in the
correct position i.e. with the red indication mark on the
main shaft in line with the threaded hole for the calibra-
tion weight.
7.1.1

Clamping the wheel

Choose the correct cone that fi ts into centre hole of the
wheel and place onto the main shaft of the clamping
means.
Place the wheel onto the main shaft and steady it on
the left side with the left hand as close to the adapter
fl ange as possible. Fit the clamp with the right hand by
pushing it up to the rim and tighten by turning clockwise.

Universal clamping means

Some French automotive manufacturers prefer to use
rims without centre holes. We can offer as special clam-
ping means ordered from accessories (Art-Nr. 1 987 009
W01N).
The rim is clamped using a centering ring with special
wheel bolts to enable a secure fi t.
7.2.1 Clamping the wheel
Fit and secure the clamping means to the machine fol-
lowing the respective instructions. Select and fi t the cor-
rect centering ring.
Choose the correct amount and size of mounting bolts
according to the amount of mounting holes on the rim
i.e. 3-, 4- or 5 hole rims, and screw into the adapter fl an-
ge and tighten. Carry out a Zero run in order to compen-
sate for any residual unbalance in the clamping means.
Place the wheel onto the adaptor and tighten each
bolt to secure the wheel in position.
7.3 Motorcycle –Clamping means
(special accessory) not suitable for BM 50-2
We also offer a special clamping means from our ac-
cessory program for all types of motorcycle wheels in-
cluding those with one arm assembly (such as BMW or
Ducati )which fi t all machines except BM 50-2.
! Before mounting the clamping means make sure
that the cones, main shaft and clamping means are
all clean and in good condition. Place the adaptor
onto the main shaft conical end and secure using
the centre bolt using the supplied Allen Key.
