GS331 Glass Break Detector Tester Installation

Description
GS331 glass break detector tester has been designed to
produce a test glass break frequency vibrations to check the
function of passive glass break detectors.
The test signal indicator is located on the front panel at the top
of the test equipment.
The test electronic is supplied with current only at the actuating
of the impulse button. In the actuating of the push button
approx. 8 high frequency test impulses per second are
produced and transmitted to the test signal indicator.
If the push button remains pressed longer than 10 s, the tester
switches off.
As long as current of the incorporated 9 V battery does not sink
to under 7.0 V, the green light-emitting diode (LED) is lit
together with the test impulse while pressing impulse button. A
simultaneous lighting up of the red LED shows that the battery
is exhausted and should be changed.
Caution:
With exception of the battery container, opening the
device invalidates the guarantee.

Test specifications
Inside of the front panel with each test signal impulse an
ultrasonic pulse of approx. 0,8 Watt is produced.
The test signal changes approximately 8 times per second in
frequency and intensity in order to correctly test glass panes of
different sizes.
Test cycle
The best possible contact must be produced between glass
pane and front panel of the tester. Therefore areas must be
cleaned prior tests.
Depending on the kind of the test specimen, the front panel
can be pressed directly against the glass pane and initiated by
pressing of the impulse button with the frequency initiator. The
transmission on the contact surfaces can be improved if one
applies a wet cloth (for example soaked with water or methyl
alcohol) between glass pane and front panel.
WARNING:
The combustibility of methyl alcohol should be
respected in its use. Do not smoke while using!
The response of the test specimen is dependent on the
distance between test specimen and the front panel of the
tester, the intensity and size of the glass pane, the cloth as well
as of other criteria. The attainable distance between tester and
test specimen can be 10 cm and more.
First always try triggering of the test specimen under dry
conditions. If this does not succeed, moisten the contact
surface.
If both attempts fail to activate, bonding, current supply and
circuit arrangement of the glass break detectors should be
reviewed.
Glass break detector function test (9 V)
The 9 V output of the tester can be used if glass break
detectors need to be tested before connection.
The connecting wires of glass break detectors (in accordance
to manufacturer instructions) should be plugged to the spring
loaded clamps on the left side of the tester (item 1 in Figure)
