Take good care of your vacuum flask
Wash, rinse and dry the vacuum flask
before using it for the first time. Always
empty the vacuum flask after use. Wash
it by hand, adding bicarbonate of soda or
washing-up liquid to the water. Use a bottle
brush to make sure it is thoroughly clean
inside.
Good to know
— Pre-heating the flask with hot water
(or cooling it with cold water) makes
sure the contents retain the desired
temperature for longer. This procedure
also minimises the risk of shattering the
inner vessel when pouring in liquid.
— Never use a vacuum flask in a micro-
wave oven, an oven or a freezer.
— The inner vessel is made of glass and
is therefore very brittle. Never drink
directly out of the flask if it has been
dropped, handled without due care,
or seems to leak. There may be small
splinters of glass inside.
— Never stir the contents with a spoon or
other hard object. Ice cubes can also
damage the glass inner vessel. Always
place ice cubes in a freezer bag or simi-
lar before putting them into the flask.
— Do not keep carbonated (fizzy) drinks in
the flask. The build-up of pressure can
make the lid explode with considerable
5
force. The same thing may happen if
sugary drinks in the flask are exposed
to heat, as heat sets the fermentation
process in motion.
— Avoid using the flask for baby food and
for drinks made with hot milk. Bacteria
can develop rapidly in the heat and set
the fermentation process in motion. If
you do keep milk or baby food in the
flask, make sure this is only for a short
time, and always clean the flask care-
fully afterwards.
— Fulfills European Standard requirements
for keeping drinks hot.
