IMPORTANT: If you change your stem, please think about control cable lengths.
Changes of more than 10cm are possible. Longer stems may require a replace-
ment with control cables of the correct length.
► Handlebars – Stem Unit and Saddle
Handlebars are a component subjected to extreme stresses. Any visible scratches
or dents may lead to material failure. So please take care when attaching any new
accessories, or adjusting existing accessories on your handlebars. Examine your
handlebars regularly for any outward signs of damage. Aluminium and carbon fibre
handlebars are particularly prone to damage. When in doubt, replace them.
The handlebar stem fixes the handlebars in your preferred position. Only Aheadset
stems are used on ROTWILD MTBs/Racing bikes.
Please note that the fixing screws of handlebar/stem and saddle must be tightened
with the required torque, preferably the manufacturer's recommended values. Non-
compliance may result in a loosening or failure of the handlebar/stem or saddle,
which could lead to serious accidents and injury.
IMPORTANT: Should your handlebars or stem be damaged or bent –
however little – in a crash or fall, they should be replaced immedi-
ately due to the danger of total material failure.
This is a risk you should not take!

NOTE: The removal of spacers is only possi-
ble when the steering tube is shortened. This
process is irreversible, and should only be
carried out in a specialised workshop, and
only when you are absolutely sure about the
new position.
The purpose of the saddle is to provide the rider with a
comfortable seat and to guide the rider's thighs while
pedalling. Men's or ladies saddles are fundamentally
different forms. The seat of a ladies saddle is broader
and the tapered front is shorter. In some cases, men
may feel more comfortable with a ladies saddle, or
ladies with a men's saddle. Sporting cyclists use the
saddle predominantly in its function as a guide and the
greater part of the riders' weight is applied to the
pedals.
