► Special installation instructions for carbon frames
Please be aware of the particular pressure-
sensitivity of the material when being clamped.
Therefore always use a torque wrench when
clamping carbon tubes and note the following
tightening torques:
/ Seatclamp:
/ Stemclamp (Roadbike):
/ Front derailleur
Make sure the surface is free of grease. By using a special carbon mounting-paste
(CFP-mounting-paste) the tightening torques can be clearly reduced.
Please don't ever clamp your frame into a work stand. Always use the seatpost.
► Paint
All ROTWILD frames are provided with a multi-coat / powder coating finish. Should
the paintwork become deeply scratched or chipped, you can order original ROT-
WILD paints from your dealer.
► Frame number
All ROTWILD frames are provided with a number that allows the identification of an
individual frame. You can find your frame number, well protected against manipula-
tion, under the clear varnish on the bottom bracket.
Please make a note of your frame number in the identification certificate supplied
with your ROTWILD MTB/Racing bike. This can be useful in helping the police to
identify your bike in the case of theft.
► Suspension system
Full suspension MTBs do not only have suspension forks, but also a flexible rear sub
frame with a damping element, (shock absorber).
►► Shock absorber
The damping characteristics of the shock absorber
must be adjusted according to rider weight, position
and terrain. When mounting your bike, the real wheel
sub frame shock absorber must compress slightly.
This is known as negative travel or SAG. This should
usually be around 15-20% of the maximum travel.
(For freeride bikes it may be between 20 and 30%).
IMPORTANT: Please make sure, in the case of frame types with an open-ended
seat post, that there is enough clearance between the bottom of the seat post
and the shock absorber.
