If the valve is left in a fixed position and the pump flow changes (either due to a change in speed or a
change in the electrical drive signals to the pump), then the pressure will also change accordingly.
Hence the reasons for the following caution.
CAUTION
Always wind the PCV out before increasing the pump flow.

4.4.1 Testing and Metering

It is assumed here that the pump has been mounted and electrical and test oil connections have been
made.
1. Connect the valve output to any of the AVM2 metering unit lines using flexible hose AL339. In the
AVM2 Metering screen select the injector line that you have connected to, and select the required
metering units.
2. Wind the PCV out, start the fuel and drive and set up the pump speed and drive conditions.
3. Once the pump is running in the required condition, wind the PCV in to achieve the required
pressure.
4. If the next test condition is an increase in pump flow, wind the PCV out before continuing.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Regular Maintenance

5.1.1 Changing the 2 Micron Filter Element (HB378 only)

The 2 micron filter has a mechanical indicator showing when the filter is becoming blocked (inlet line
pressure above 3.5 bar). The green outer ring on the indicator will disappear revealing the inner red
pin. The indicator should be checked regularly, e.g. once a week, or if you suspect a problem.
Part No. HS219 or HS283 is the Filter Element Replacement Kit (including the filter element plus the
bowl o ring). The procedure to change the element is as follows:
1. Switch off the test bench.
2. Place a suitable container under the filter to catch any spilt fluid.
3. Loosen and remove the filter bowl.
4. Check the bowl o-ring for damage and replace as necessary.
5. Remove the blocked element by pulling downward with a slight twisting motion.
6. Lubricate the new element o-ring with test oil and fit onto the post in the filter head.
7. Refit the bowl, tightening to 20-25 Nm.
8. Switch on the test bench and check for leaks.
