5. GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The FR98H shaper machine is a high-per for man ce
electric tool designed for shaping the edges of lon-
gitudinal beams and crossbeams and modelling
coffered ceilings.
Factory-fi tted with cutter-holder and straight cut-
ters for bevel-edging, it also permits rounding or
moulding of shapes by using the moulding cutters
included with the equipment or The optional ones
(Fig. 12). If the cutter-holder is changed, replacing it
with the optional one, then the blades with special
profi les can be used (Fig. 12).
The width of the straight or moulded profi le obtai-
ned can be set between 0 and 40 mm. The guide
runner on which the piece to be shaped rests can
be moved with respect to the cutter, which means
that different profi les can be made on an edge,
according to the zone of the cutter on which work
6
is being done.
There are two ancillary grips "P" (Fig. 1), one
parallel to the main grip and at the same level,
permitting comfortable work on longitudinal beams
and vertical parts, and a top knob with two optional
positions for work on horizontal surfaces, thus in
both cases allowing a perfectly comfortable and
secure two-handed grip on the machine.
The machine is equipped with a safety connection
cut-off switch to avoid undesired start-up.
6. MACHINE ADJUSTMENT CUTTING
WIDTH ON THE EDGE
The machine has a screw "A" (Fig. 1) for adjusting the
width of cutting on an edge between 0 and 40 mm.
The maximum cutting width will be achieved in a
minimum of 3 consecutive passes; it is advisable
not to exceed the cutting depths at each pass,
indicated as 1, 2 and 3 or 24, 34 and 40 on the
dual scale "D". The cutting width varies depending
on whether the profi le of the cutter is straight or
moulded, so that one or the other scale is used
according to the cutter used for working.
To adjust the cutting width, loosen the locking lever
"B" and set the height of the guide runner "C", by
means of the screw "A", to the desired cutting width
indicated on the scale "D". Lock in this position
using the lever "B" (Fig. 1).
POSITIONING THE CUTTER ON THE EDGE
The guide runner "C" (Fig. 1), on which the piece
to be shaped rests, can be moved with respect to
the cutter using screw "E", which means that when
working with radius or moulding cutters (Fig. 12)
different profi les can be cut on an edge according
to the zone of the cutter used for the work.
To adjust, loosen the locking lever "F" (Fig. 1) and
then, using screw "E", move the guide runner "C"
to the desired position with respect to the cutter;
lock with lever "F".
7. REPLACING THE CUTTERS
WARNING! Disconnect the machine from the
mains electricity supply before carrying out this
operation.
In order to replace the cutters, the complete head of
the machine is fi rst removed to make the operation
easier. To do this, take the locking lever "F" right off
and turn the screw "E" until the head is completely
released (Fig. 2).
WARNING! New blades must always be of the
same type, as the ones they are going to replace
(Fig. 12). If different blades are to be used, the
cutter-holder must be changed.
To change the cutters, fi rst remove the screws
that secure the cutter-holder (Fig. 2) "H" and then
the screws that hold them in place "G". Once you
