completely until it stops. The wing nut will move
downward as the vent opens.
4. Place hydraulic control valve lever in the neutral or open
position.
5. Press air button and run the pump several minutes.
6. Put the control valve in the advance position. Press the
air valve handle to advance the cylinder or tool.
7. To retract the cylinder, put the control valve in retract
position. Single-acting cylinders will retract without
operating the pump. To retract double-acting cylinders,
operate the pump.
NOTE: Double-acting cylinders require 2 hoses and a 4-
way valve on the pump.
5.4 Removing Air from System
1. Extend cylinder plunger. Cylinder should be inverted
and lower than the pump reservoir.
2. Retract cylinder plunger.
3. Cycle cylinder plunger several times to be sure all air
has been returned to the pump reservoir.
5.5 Providing Automatic Pressure Makeup
Use for sustained pressure cycle. Pump holds pressure for
prolonged periods and automatically makes up any losses
due to pressure drops in the circuit.
1. Adjust the air regulator to correspond with the desired
circuit pressure.
2. Secure the air valve handle in the advance position.
3. With the air supply pressure continuously applied to the
air motor, the pump will automatically cycle whenever
8.0 TROUBLESHOOTING
Problem
Pump fails to deliver oil
Pump noise
vent
counter-clockwise
Cause
1. Loose coupler
2. Low fluid level
3. Fluid resistance to flow. Oil viscosity is too
high or ambient temperature is too low
4. Lack of air pressure
5. Pump has lost its prime
6. Suction strainer plugged
7. Contaminants are obstrucing oil flow in
pump
8. Low fluid level
1. Intake line or suction strainer restricted
2. Lack of air pressure
3. Air motor section needs lubrication
circuit pressure drops below the pump stall pressure.
CAUTION: The air valve handle should only be
secured when continuous oil flow is required to
maintain constant pressure. Do not secure the air
valve handle for normal pump start/stop operations.
WARNING: Your air pump is equipped with a factory
set safety overload valve. Do not attempt to adjust or
reset this valve. If adjustment is required, send your
air pump to the nearest Enerpac Service Center. Adjustment
by other than qualified personnel may cause malfunction
and/or damage the pump and lead to personal injury.

6.0 MAINTENANCE

Change hydraulic oil approximately after every 100 hours
of operation. In dusty or dirty areas, it may be necessary to
change the oil more frequently.
7.0 STORAGE
Follow this procedure in the event that the unit would be
stored for 30 days or more.
1. Completely drain out old hydraulic oil. DISPOSE OF
USED OIL PROPERLY. Replace with new Enerpac
hydraulic oil. Wipe the entire unit clean.
2. The air motor section should be oiled internally to keep
lubricated. Place a few drops of oil in the air inlet port
and operate the motor for a few cycles to distribute oil.
3. Disconnect all air pressure and hydraulic lines to
prevent accidental operation.
4. Store in clean, dry environment or provide cover for
protection.
Solution
1. Check all coupler connections. Loose or incomplete coupler
connections will cause complete or partial blockage of oil flow.
2. Check reservoir oil level and fill to 1/2 inch from top with Enerpac
hydraulic oil.
3. Be sure that reservoir is filled to 1/2 inch from top with Enerpac
hydraulic oil. Enerpac oil is blue in color for easy identification. In
extreme cold, oil will thicken and must be warmed to flow freely.
Warm oil by moving pump to heated area. DO NOT apply direct
heat source or flame to pump.
4. Check air filter and replace if necessary. Check air line and filter-
regulator for obstructions or leaks. Check air motor section of
pump for damage or obstruction.
5. Prime pump. See instructions on page 4.
6. Remove pump-mounting bolts. Lift pump from reservoir to reveal
screen. Remove debris from screen while taking care to not drop
the contaminants in the reservoir. Remount pump.
7. Drain all hydraulic fluid. Be sure suction strainer and reservoir are
clean. Fill reservoir to 1/2 inch from top with Enerpac hydraulic oil.
If pump flow is still obstructed, contact your Enerpac Service
Center.
8. Fill reservoir to 1/2 inch from top with Enerpac hydraulic oil.
1. Remove pump-mounting bolts. Lift pump from reservoir to reveal
intake line. Check for any obstructions taking care to not drop any
contaminants in the reservoir. Remount pump.
2. Check air filter and replace if necessary. Check air line and filter-
regulator for obstructions or leaks. Check air motor section of
pump for damage or obstruction.
3. Place a few drops of oil in the air inlet port and operate the motor for
a few cycles to distribute oil.
