3M™ Adflo™ Powered Air Respirator

USER INSTRUCTIONS

Please read these instructions in conjunction with other relevant
3M User instructions and Reference leaflets where you will find
information on approved combinations/classifications, spare parts
and Accessories.
UNPACKING
The equipment should contain (see fig A:1): Powered Air Respirator,
Airflow indicator, Belt, Breathing tube, (adaptor), User Instructions
and Reference Leaflet.
SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
3M™ Adflo™ Powered Air Respirator is a breathing protection
device, for increased comfort and safety during welding and allied
processes when used as a system in combination with approved
headtops.
3M Adflo Powered Air Respirator is equipped with a particle filter,
spark arrestor, pre filter and a particle filter indicator that indicates
particle filter clogging. A range of gas filters (optional) give additional
protection against certain gaseous contaminations.
3M™ Adflo™ Odour Filter (optional) reduces unpleasant odour.
3M Adflo Powered Air Respirator incorporates an automatic
airflow control that ensures a constant supply of air during use. An
electronic control unit provides an audible and visible warning of low
battery and/or low air flow into the headtop.
The 3M Adflo Powered Air Respirator version for high altitudes is
designed for use above sea level 0-3000 m (1500 m with gasfilter)
and has intergrated automatic altitude compensation to adjust for
changes in air density.
3M Adflo Powered Air Respirator offers a standard and a heavy-duty
(optional) battery.
WARNING
Proper selection, training, use and maintenance are essential in
order for the product to help protect the wearer from certain airborne
contaminants. Failure to follow all instructions on the use of these
respiratory protection products and/or failure to properly wear the
complete product during all periods of exposure may adversely
affect the wearer's health, lead to severe or life threatening illness,
injury or permanent disability.
For suitability and proper use follow local regulations, refer to
all information supplied or contact a safety professional/3M
representative (see local contact details).
Particular attention should be given to warning statements
where indicated.

is in conformity with the provisions of European Directive 2014/30/
EU (EMC - Electromagnetic Compatibility) and 2011/65/EU (RoHS

LIMITATIONS OF USE
Only use with original 3M™ Speedglas™ spare parts and
accessories listed in the reference leaflet and within the usage
conditions given in the Technical Specifications.

in these user instructions might seriously impair protection and
may invalidate claims under the warranty or cause the product
to be noncompliant with protection classifications and approvals.
3M Adflo Powered Air Respirator must not be used in the power
OFF state since a rapid build-up of carbon dioxide and depletion
of oxygen within the headtop may occur.
Do not remove the headtop or turn off 3M Adflo Powered Air
Respirator until you have vacated the contaminated area. In the
power OFF state little or no respiratory protection is expected.
3M™ Adflo™ Powered Air Respiratory System must not be used
if 3M Adflo Powered Air Respirator does not supply enough
air(low flow alarm). Use the air flow check procedure described
in fig F:1
3M Adflo Powered Air Respiratory System must not be used in
flammable or explosive environments.
Note that the breathing tube might make a loop and get caught

about equipment performance, seek advice from an industrial
safety engineer. The manufacturer is not responsible for injury
following incorrect use or incorrect choice of equipment.
