3 Initial Checks
Before removing, the gaiter should be checked carefully
to confirm the extent of wear or damage. If the gaiter is
damaged to an extent that may have allowed foreign objects
or significant ingress to pass into the joystick housing, the
remote module should be returned for thorough internal
assessment by a Dynamic Controls service centre.
If the remote module shows any signs of significant
mechanical damage or impact, the unit should be returned to
a Dynamic Controls service centre for assessment. Significant
damage would typically include loss of function or openings
in the unit chassis or speed dial.
4 Disassembly
WARNING!
– Do not disassemble beyond the point described
in this procedure. Further disassembly may
result in product calibration moving out of
specification, compromising the product's safe
operation.
2
1. Remove the joystick knob from the remote module by
pulling it directly away from the remote module's body.
The knob may be held tightly on the shaft, so some
force may be required — DO NOT twist the knob while
it is on the shaft.
WARNING!
– Twisting the knob when it is still attached
to the shaft may result in damage to the
joystick mechanism.
2. Using the T10 driver, remove the four screws, highlighted
in images below, from the underside of the remote
module — the screws can be removed in any order. For
REM060, REM1xx and REM2xx modules, one screw is
located underneath the warranty label. DO NOT remove
any other screws.

3. Pull the gaiter and gaiter retainer away from the top
case and joystick shaft and then separate the gaiter from
gaiter retainer.

5 Component Inspection
Contamination
With the gaiter and retainer removed, inspect the visible
joystick mechanism for signs of ingress, including signs of
liquid residue and solid debris.
Deflect the joystick shaft in all directions so that the inside
of the joystick mechanism can also be checked for signs
of debris or ingress. If there is any sign of contamination,
the complete remote module should be replaced or, where
appropriate, returned for service by a Dynamic Controls
service centre.
