ing (FF)). Use of patched fuses or short-circuiting of the
fuse holder is not permissible; HAMEG assumes no li-
ability whatsoever for any damage caused as a result,
and all warranty claims become null and void.
Attention!
The fuse must not be changed if a voltage is applied at
the "Measuring Circuit 1" banana jacks.
The maximum permissible voltage between the INPUT
1 jacks is 500 Volt. The voltage applied at any banana
jack must not exceed 500 Vp compared to the refer-
ence potential of the POWER METER case (PE)
WARNING!
Voltages exceeding the following values may cause elec-
trical shock:
1. 30 Vrms
2. 42.4 Vpeak
3. 60 V DC
Higher voltages may be applied only by experts who are
familiar with the risks and dangers! Safety regulations
must be noted unconditionally!
(16) OUTPUT 2 (wall outlet) measuring circuit 2.
(17) INPUT 2 (power connector with fuse holder) measur
ing circuit 2.
This measuring circuit is intended for mains/line oper-
ated single phase devices and becomes active after set-
ting the selector switch (6) to "INPUT 2 / OUTPUT 2".
The protective earth (PE) connector at "INPUT 2" (17)
terminal is connected with earth (PE) via the POWER
METER power cable (19). The protective earth (PE) con-
nector of INPUT 2 is galvanically connected with the pro-
tective earth connector of OUTPUT 2.
Attention!
The maximum permissible voltage and current for meas-
uring circuit 2 is 250 Vacand 10 Ampere.
Measuring circuit 2 is protected by two 10 Ampere fuses
(fuse characteristic: slow blow (T)) located in the fuse

holder which is part of the power connector (17).
Attention!
The fuses must not be changed if a voltage is applied at
the INPUT 2 and/or OUTPUT 2 terminals. Thus remove
the power cable from the power connector marked "IN-
PUT 2" prior to replacing the fuse(s). Both fuses are
externally accessible by removing the fuse cover located
above the 3 pole power connector.
The fuse holder can be released by pressing its' plastic
retainers with the aid of a small screwdriver. The retain-
ers are located on the right and left side of the holder
and must be pressed towards the centre. The fuses can
then be replaced and pressed in until locked on both
sides.
Use of patched fuses or short-circuiting of the fuse holder
is not permissible; HAMEG assumes no liability what-
soever for any damage caused as a result, and all war-
ranty claims become null and void.
WARNING!
Voltages exceeding one of the following values may
cause electrical shock:

(18) RS-232 Serial Port (9 pole D-Sub socket)
Hardware
The POWER METER is fitted with a serial port for data ac-
quisition and control purposes. The serial port connector (9
pole D-Sub female) is located at the rear of the instrument.
Via this bi-directional port the POWER METER can receive
data (commands) and send data (measuring values and pa-
rameters) from/to a PC.
