Commissioning and operation

4.2.1 Daily check

The safety system IN 4000 must be subjected to a check at least eve-
ry 24 hours. It is sensible to perform a check prior, e.g., to the start of
a shift. Check whether
the safety system functions correctly
there is evidence of manipulation on the system
If the machine or system does not shut down reliably during the
test on the protective device, correct function must be estab-
lished without delay. Defective cables and components must be
r
eplaced.

4.2.2 Testing by specialist personnel

The check by specialist personnel must be performed regularly as per
the applicable national regulations within the intervals defined. This
procedure ensures that any changes on the machine or manipula-
tions of the protective device after the first commissioning are de-
tected.
Damaged cables and components must be replaced without de-
lay, operation with damaged cables or components is not al-
l
owed. Defective devices must be replaced without delay.

Fault diagnosis

If the evaluation unit is not enabled after switching on the supply
voltage, there may be an error in the system. In the simplest case, a
safety sensor connected is not in the enable zone (not activated).
Check supply voltage for the relay evaluation unit IN 40-R and the
safety sensors connected; the green LED B5 illuminates when the
evaluation unit supply voltage is correct
Check state of the safety sensors and protective devices
Check wiring and contacts
Check LED displays on the safety sensors connected. Information
on this topic is given in the operating instructions for the safety
sensor
Check LED display enable information (B2 and B3 green, cf. Fig. 2)
on the evaluation unit; the PSDI or the enable signal from the safe-
ty sensors connected is looped through from the first to the last
device. The signal state of the sensors connected, or chains of
sensors is indicated using the LED displays for the enable signal
(B2 and B3 green, cf. Fig. 2). On the occurrence of an error in the
system, the enable signal is interrupted from the first detected er-
