Correct use

The relay evaluation unit IN 40-R is only allowed to be used as de-
fined in section 1.2 "Applications of the evaluation unit". It must be
used only by specialist personnel and only on the machine where it
has been installed and initialised by specialist personnel in accor-
dance with these operating instructions. The relay evaluation unit is
designed especially for the connection and monitoring of inductive
safety sensors in the SICK series IN 4000.
All warranty claims against SICK AG are forfeited in the case of any
other use, or alterations being made to devices, even as part of their
mounting or installation.

General safety notes and protective measures

The safety system, which comprises an evaluation unit and safety
sensors, provides a personnel protection function. Incorrect installa-
tion or manipulation can result in serious injuries.
The relay evaluation unit IN 40-R complies with safety requirements
up to category 4 in compliance with EN 954-1.
