System expansion, replacement of defective single-cable matrices
Note:
If the Master Unit used to date in the system is an EXU 544 with Order no. 273433, it must always be used as a Slave
Unit in the future.
In order to be able to fully utilise the described functions, the Master Unit must have the Order no. 273443.
Disconnect the Master Unit EXU 544 from the system section (distribution network) at the " OUT" output:
Disconnect all EXU 544 from the power supply.
Carry out required changes (e.g. expansion) to the system.
To carry out RESET at EXU 544:
1. Connect the Slave Units (if slaves are installed) to the power supply.
2. Connect the Master Unit to the power supply.
3. All LEDs "Operation/Fault" show green, all LEDs "Status" are out.
4. Set the rotary switch of the Master Unit to "Reset". The LED "Operation/Fault" of the master unit switches to red,
the LED "Status" stays out.
5. Again disconnect the Master Unit from the power supply and wait approx. 10 seconds.
6. Reconnect the Master Unit to the power supply.
7. All LEDs "Operation/Fault" show red, all LEDs "Status" are illuminated.
8. Now set back the rotary switch of the Master Unit to "Operation".
9. The LED "Status" of the Master Unit flashes, the LEDs of the Slave Units (if there are any) extinguish one after the
other. The LEDs "Operation/Fault" of all units show green.
10. After all the LEDs "Status" are extinguished, establish the RF connection to the RF output " OUT" for the system
section
Receivers can now be logged in.
Note:
If the Master Unit was not replaced (EXU 544, Order no. 273443, was already installed as the master), receivers that
were already logged in to the system need not to be logged in again.
To log in further receivers:
Log in the receivers as described in the operating instructions. You will find the corresponding information for
UFO
micro mode under "basic settings" and "installation".
®
Note: 1. Connect the receiver to the TV set, but do not yet connect it to the ESU 31/ESU 32
2. Carry out a UFO
3. Switch the receiver to stand-by mode
4. Now connect the receiver to the ESU 31/ESU 32
5. Turn on the receiver
6. Carry out a UFO
Possible system configurations for one system section and designation of the devices in the
system
The device at which the Sat signals are fed in is referred to as the Basic Unit. Therefore, in the case of more than four
Sat levels, there will be a corresponding number of basic units. Devices that receive the Sat signals in loop-through
mode are Expansion Units.
There is always one Master irrespective of the system configuration. The Master is always the Basic Unit that is
connected to the system section via the " OUT" RF output (also applies for only one unit). Each further device in the
system is a Slave. This also applies to the remaining basic units.
Each last device of a row is equipped at the top right with terminating resistors at the Sat loop-through outputs " ".
This also applies to the remaining basic units.
The select line and the RF output line are always routed through the entire cascade. For this purpose, the "Select "
output of the master is connected to the " Terr./Select" input of the next slave and the RF loop-through input " " to
the " OUT" output of the next slave (and so on).
The "Select " output and the RF loop-through input " " of the last slave remain open (see application examples).
