The ID Card readers AR6181-RX and AR6182-RX (with keypad) are new proximity
ID-Card readers in a square housing, part of the new Access reader range. The
readers read proximity ID card of 125 kHz technology: CerPass, Miro, Hitag1 and
Hitag2. The new Square Reader Design has been created as a simple device for
standard flush-mounting boxes and for simple adjustment. For mounting on plane
surfaces a distance frame and an accessory pack are part of delivery.
The card readers are connected via a reader interface or via a door controller to an
Access control system. The readers AR6181-RX and AR6182-RX (with keypad)
read the unique serial number of CerPass, Miro, Hitag1 and Hitag2 proximity ID
cards or the personalised ID No. out of Hitag1 and Hitag2 ID cards. The card
number will be transmitted to the Access control system for processing.
The card readers have to be mounted on recess devices in accordance with DIN
49 073 (60 mm perforate distance). A distance frame for mounting on even or
metal surfaces is scope of supply. In the bottom part of the housing is a plug-in
connector for the connection to the interface.
The card readers AR6181-RX and AR6182-RX have to be connected via a RS485
bus interface, 2-wire, to the reader interface of a door controller. For that a 4-wire,
twisted pair, shielded cable is required. One pair is for the 2-wire RS485 partyline
and the other pair for power supply of the reader. The maximum allowed bus
length is 1200 m (at 9600 Baud).
The data transmission of the system from the user cards to the card readers is
based on an electromagnetic field, which is created by the aerial of the card
reader. If the ID card is approximated to the electromagnetic field of the reader
aerial, it is supplied with energy and sends its personalised data. The data is
received by the reader aerial.
The reading range of the card readers AR618x-RX, depending on the kind of the
arrangement and material the reader is mounted on, is up to 70 mm. The kind of
the transponder ID card has also an important influence on the reading distance;
ID card, keyfob, etc. Electrical conductive materials, like metal and metallized glass
surfaces, influence the spatial spreading of the electromagnetic fieldlines. The
lateral distance between the card reader and metallic objects must be at least
30 cm. Otherwise the reading range is reduced.
The spatial distance to neighboured card readers should not be less than 50 cm, to
prevent mutual influence of the electromagnetic fields and data transmission
problems. Attention should also be paid to install the card readers not near to
computer terminals, TV sets and so on, because of the negative influence on the
range. If the card reader is mounted on metal walls or metallized glass surfaces,
the delivered distance frame should be used. In that case, the reading range can
be reduced.
Installation according to the type of protection IP 65 (using the gaskets). Avoid
installing the reader in places where it is subject to direct sunlight.
The reader has one multi-colour LED for the colours yellow, green and red and an
internal buzzer.
