OPERATION

Selecting the Operating Mode

Select the operating mode for each channel pair:
• normal operation: If the operating mode selector switch is disengaged these two channels are operated
independently of each other. The corresponding LED BRIDGE does not light up.
• bridge operation: If the operating mode selector switch is engaged, the input signal of the second channel
is additionally switched to the first channel of the channel pair in an inverted way. The
corresponding LED BRIDGE lights up. An input signal at the first channel of the pair is
ignored.

Switching on/off

To prevent loud switching noise, always switch on all other units of the amplifier system before switching on
the power amplifier. After operation, switch off the power amplifier first. Prior to switching on set all level
controls to the left stop position. Then switch on the amplifier with the power switch. The power indicator
lights up. After switching on, the turn-on delay is activated for a few seconds to protect the speakers. If there
is no signal, the amplifier is in standby mode and the STAND BY indicator lights.

Adjusting the Level

1. Set the output of the mixer or preamplifier to its rated value (0 dB) or to the highest undistorted output
signal.
2. Adjust the level controls to the desired volume value. If the clip indicator lights up, the amplifier is
overloaded. In this case, reduce the volume correspondingly.
3. In bridge mode the level control for the first channel of the channel pair is disabled. Volume adjustment is
made with the level control for the second channel.

Protective Circuits

The integrated protective circuits prevent damage to the speakers and the amplifier. To prevent distortions in
case overload, the integrated level limiter reduces the input signal if the limit level is reached at the output. If
one of the other protective cuircuits is activated, the speakers are electrically separated from the amplifier:
• for a few seconds after switching-on until the speaker outputs are ready for operation
• in case of overheating of the amplifier
• in case of overload of the amplifier
• in case of DC voltage at a speaker output
• in case of a short-circuit at a speaker output (the clip indicator of the corresponding channel lights up)
If the speakers are switched off during operation or if they are not ready for operation after switching on, the
amplifier has to be switched off and the cause of the fault has to be removed.
