Brewing Tea and Keeping Tea Hot
1. Remove the tea-filter unit by pressing the two buttons
on the lid and lifting the unit out of the teapot.
2. Remove the lid from the tea filter by turning it slightly
anticlockwise.
3. Fill the tea filter with the required amount of tea.
4. Fit the lid to the tea filter, making sure that the notches
in the tea filter and lid are in line with each other (i.e.
not on opposite sides).
5. Fill the teapot with boiling water.
6. Fit the tea-filter unit to the teapot, making sure that it
clicks into place.
7. Put the teapot on the base's hotplate, and insert the
plug in the wall socket.
8. Switch on the hotplate by setting the On/Off switch to 'I'
(On). The On/Off switch is located under the handle at
the end of the base.
9. After use, switch off the hotplate by setting the On/Off
switch to '0' (Off). Switch off the hotplate immediately
once the teapot is empty.
10. Remove the plug from the wall socket after use.
Cleaning and Maintenance
General
1. Remove the plug from the wall socket, and allow the
appliance to cool.
2. Rinse the jug with fresh water after each use, and regu-
larly clean the jug and base with a damp cloth.
3. Remove the tea filter from the teapot, and clean the
teapot using the customary manner for glassware. You
can wash the teapot by hand; you can also clean it in a
dishwasher.
4. Clean the teapot's tea filter and lid with a soft washing-
up brush and a few drops of washing-up liquid. Rinse the
filter thoroughly, and dry the filter and lid. You can also
clean the lid and the tea filter in a dishwasher.
PLEASE NOTE
• Never use corrosive or scouring cleaning agents or sharp
objects (such as knives or hard brushes) to clean the
appliance. This could damage the stainless-steel finish.
• Never immerse the jug or base in water. Never put them
in a dishwasher.
• Make sure that the electrical connections do not become
damp.
• Before cleaning, make sure that the appliance is not con-
nected to the power supply and that it has cooled down.
Cleaning the Descaling Filter
Clean the jug's descaling filter at regular intervals using the
following procedure:
1. Open the jug's lid.
2. Remove the descaling filter from the jug by pulling it
upwards at an angle.
3. Clean the descaling filter with a soft washing-up brush.

4. If necessary, you can also leave the descaling filter to
soak in a vinegar or lemonjuice solution for a few hours.
5. Rinse the filter thoroughly, and dry it carefully.
6. Fit the filter to the jug by aligning it with the guides in the
spout and then pressing downwards at an angle.
Carefully press the filter into position until it blocks.
Descaling the Jug
A layer of scale can form in the jug, especially in areas with
hard water. You can descale the jug if you so require. You
can descale the jug using vinegar or lemon juice.
With lemon juice:
1. Boil 1 l of water (see 'Boiling water').
2. Add 50 ml of lemon juice.
3. Allow the solution to soak for 1 hour, without returning
the solution to the boil.
With vinegar:
1. Fill the jug with 500 ml of vinegar.
2. Allow this to soak for 1 hour, without boiling.
After descaling, rinse the jug thoroughly with clean water.
PLEASE NOTE
• Never descale the jug using agents other than lemon
juice or vinegar. Other products could be harmful to your
health and/or damage the appliance.
Ecology – Environmental Protection
The "crossed-out trash bin" symbol on electrical
equipment or packaging indicates that the device
cannot be treated as general household waste
and should not be disposed of into containers for such
waste.
Obsolete or broken-down electrical device should be
delivered to special designated collection points, organized
by local public administration, whose purpose is to collect
recyclable electrical equipment.
This way, each household helps reduce possible negative
effects influencing natural environment and allows the
reclaiming of materials which the product is made of.
