Battery Charged State Indicator (Green LED)
The charged state of the battery 13 is indicates by the
three green LEDs of the battery charged state indica-
tor 11. For safety reasons, the charge state of the bat-
tery can be checked only when the power tool is at a
standstill.
Press the button 12 to activate the charged state indi-
cator 11. The charged state can also be checked
when the battery is removed. After approx. 5 sec-
onds, the charged state indicator goes off by itself.
If no LED lights when the button 12 is pressed, the
battery is defective and must be replaced.

Continuous lighting of 3 green LEDs
Continuous lighting of 2 green LEDs
Continuous lighting of 1 green LED
Blinking of 1 green LED
During the charging procedure, the three green LED
light successively and extinguish briefly. The battery is
charged completely when the three green LEDs light
continuously. Approximately 5 minutes after the bat-
tery is completely charged, the three green LEDs ex-
tinguish again.
Indicator for the Temperature Monitoring
(Red LED)
The red LED of the indicator for temperature monitor-
ing 10 signals whether the battery or the electronics of
the power tool (with battery inserted) is in the optimum
temperature range. For a temperature that is too high,
the power tool will not operate or not operates at full
capacity.
Temperature Monitoring of the Battery
If the red LED 10 lights continuously when the battery
is inserted in the charging unit, then the battery is out-
side the charging temperature range of 0 °C to 45 °C
and cannot be charged.
If the red LED 10 blinks when the button 12 or the
on/off switch 5 (with inserted battery) is pressed, the
battery is outside the operating temperature range of
–10 °C to +60 °C.
For temperatures above 70 °C, the battery switches
off until it is again in the optimum temperature range.
Temperature Monitoring of the Power Tool
Electronics
If the red LED 10 lights continuously when the on/off
switch 5 is pressed, the temperature of the power tool
electronics is more than 75 °C.
For a temperature above 90 °C, the electronics switch
off the power tool until it is again within the allowable
operating temperature range.

Instructions for Optimum Handling of the
Battery
– Protect the battery against moisture and water.
– Store the battery only within a temperature range
from 0 °C to 45 °C. As an example, do not leave
the battery in a vehicle in the summer.
– Clean the ventilation slots of the battery occasion-
ally with a soft, clean and dry brush.
A considerably shortened operating time after charg-
ing is an indication that the battery is exhausted and
must be replaced.
Observe the instructions in the Disposal Section.

Auxiliary Handle (see Fig.
≥2/3
Always use the auxiliary handle provided with the
≥1/3
machine. The loss of control over the machine can re-
<1/3
sult in injuries.
Reserve
By rotating the auxiliary handle 15 to a comfortable po-
sition, a fatigue-free and therefore safe working posi-
tion can be achieved.
Loosen the auxiliary handle 15 in the counter clock-
wise direction and adjust the handle to the desired
working position. Ensure that the clamping band of the
auxiliary handle is located in the groove intended for it
in the housing.
Then retighten the auxiliary handle 15 by turning in the
clockwise direction.
Selecting Drill Chucks and Tools
For hammer drilling and chiselling, SDS-plus tools are
required that are inserted in a SDS-plus drill chuck.
For drilling in steel or wood, for screw driving and for
thread cutting, tools without SDS-plus are used (for
example, drills with cylindrical shafts). For these tools,
a quick change keyless or a ring gear drill chuck is re-
quired.
Do not use tools without SDS-plus for hammer
drilling or chiselling! Tools without SDS-plus and
their drill chucks are damaged by hammer drilling or
chiselling.
