Faults
7. The instrument should only be used if it is in perfect technical condition.
Any malfunctions that could impair safety must be eliminated immediately!
Intervention in the measuring station components
8. Any modification or manipulation of the machine requires the express written approval of Mahr GmbH and must
be carried out by qualified personnel.
Covers on the machine may only be opened or removed for maintenance or repair work by authorized
personnel!
Before opening the machine, switch it off and pull the mains plug from the mains socket outlet. If units
are opened or worked on without authorization, this renders the warranty null and void and releases the
manufacturer from any liability.
Working with the measuring station
9. Never leave the measuring station unattended during operation!
Relaxed, non-tiring working
10. Make sure that you always work in a relaxed, non-tiring way such that you can always pay full attention to your
work when operating the machine!
While working on the PC: Pay particular attention to both good illumination and good sitting posture and
change your sitting posture frequently. Use breaks and waiting times for little gymnastic exercises.
While working on the machine: Avoid standing statically or standing for more than 20 minutes at a time.
Using footrests as well as lifting devices for loading and unloading the machine provides relief for the back. Use
breaks and waiting times for little gymnastic exercises.
Maintenance/cleaning
11. Ensure that maintenance and safety checks are carried out at the prescribed intervals.
12. Before cleaning the machine, pull the mains plug from the mains socket outlet. Never let any liquids penetrate
the unit.
13. Do not use cleaning agents containing any substances that may be hazardous to health or are inflammable.
Information on Meas ur ing Accuracy
The MarSurf GD 25 / GD 25 plus drive unit in conjunction with the evaluation software/evaluation unit constitutes a
high-precision meas ur ing station. The MarSurf GD 25 / GD 25 plus has an integrated datum plane and can be used
with different skidless probes. Datum plane probe systems are used in arbitration cases because unlike skidded probe
systems they cause no distortion of the surface profile.
However, datum plane probe systems are sensitive to environmental conditions – especially vibration – which influ-
ence the meas ur ing results. The user should always check whether and to what extent vibration is present.
