Congratulations on choosing a product by Mahr GmbH. We
kindly request that you follow the instructions below in order
to ensure the long-term precision of your instrument.
We operate a policy of continuous improvement and are con-

as a result of renamed type designations in particular, there
may be slight differences between the text and illustrations in

Up to serial no. 4999, drive unit MarSurf GD 25 /
GD 25 plus's measuring carriage was disengaged
from its lock-in position as soon as the probe met an
obstacle in longitudinal direction or the carriage was
otherwise overstressed in this direction.
As of serial no. 5000 of drive unit MarSurf GD 25 /
GD 25 plus, the measuring carriage cannot disengage.
Thus, there is no need to engage the meas uring car-
riage!

Permitted Uses
The MarSurf GD 25 / GD 25 plus drive unit can only be used
for performing surface texture measurements at a surface
measuring station using MarWin MarSurf software.
MarSurf surface measuring stations can be used both in clo-
se-to-production areas and in metrology rooms.
The operating, maintenance and repair requirements
specified in these operating instructions and the op-
erating instructions for the meas ur ing station compo-
nents must be observed.
Any usage not according to the intended purpose and
outside the "Permitted Uses" is considered as improp-
er use in the sense of the applicable Equipment and
Product Safety Act and renders the warranty null and
void and releases the manufacturer from any liability.
Reasonably Foreseeable Misuse
Any necessary work must be carried out by qualified
and properly trained personnel under orders from the
principal or machine owner.
Do always wear your personal protection equipment
(PPE) for any work to be carried out.
Do only start work on live parts after having both dis-
connected the machine from the power supply and
discharged any residual voltages with absolute cer-
tainty.
Safety and protection devices are strictly NOT to be
removed or bypassed or set out of order.
Do only use OEM equipment and accessory provided
by the measuring station manufacturer.
