Using the battery

To install the battery pack
Fit the battery pack and slide it in the direction of the arrow.
To remove the battery pack
While pressing the BATT. EJECT switch, slide the battery pack
in the direction of the arrow.

Battery life

The following table shows the battery life during Auto Play
(pictures only) of the Picture MD or playback of the audio MD.

• The battery life may be diminished due to operating
conditions and temperature of the location.
• If the rechargeable battery capacity falls to half the normal
level, replace it with a new one.
• If the battery is too weak to record on the Picture MD, "LOW
BATT" appears. Playback is still possible in this condition.
To check the battery condition
You can check the battery condition with the POWER indicator.
The POWER indicator status changes as follows as the battery
discharges.
Lights n Flashes slowly n Flashes quickly
When the POWER indicator flashes quickly, replace the battery
with a charged one.
When the LCD screen is turned on, you can also check the
battery condition using the BATT indicator on the OPTION
screen. See page 19 or 29.

Battery charging tips
• A rechargeable battery does
not need to be discharged before
recharging. You can recharge a
half-charged battery. However,
a rechargeable battery
discharges little by little even
while it is not in use. We
recommend that you charge it
before every use.
• Keep a few spare batteries. To
avoid a power shortage, prepare
a few extra rechargeable
batteries, model NP-520/F530/
720/F730.
• For a longer battery life, we
recommend storing the battery
in a cool place and charging it
under temperatures ranging
from 10 - 30°C (50 - 86°F).
• When the battery is not to be
used for a long period of time,
remove the battery from the unit.
Note
When you change the power
source from a battery to the AC
power adaptor, connect the AC
power adaptor to a wall outlet,
and remove the battery after 3
seconds or more. If you remove
the battery immediately, the power
may be turned off.
