• Measuring appliances must be kept away from children!
• In industrial premises, the accident prevention regulations of
the Association of Industrial Professional Associations must be
observed in respect of electrical systems and operating equip-
ment.
• In schools, training centres, hobby and DIY workshops, the op-
eration of measuring appliances and equipment must be super-
vised by responsible, trained personnel.
• Except when carried out as an exclusively manual operation,
opening covers or removing parts can lead to live parts being
exposed. Connection points can also be live. Before being cali-
brated, serviced or repaired, or having any parts or assemblies
replaced, the appliance must be isolated from any source of
voltage or measuring circuits if the operation requires that it be
opened up. If, subsequently, it is absolutely necessary to cali-
brate, service or repair the open appliance under voltage, this
must be carried out by an appropriately qualified technician
familiar with the risks involved and the relevant regulations
(VDE 0100, VDE 0683, VDE 0701).
• Capacitors inside the appliance may still be charged even after
the appliance has been isolated from all sources of voltage and
measuring circuits.
• Care must be taken to ensure that only fuses of the stipulated
type and the stated nominal current strength are used as
replacements. It is not permissible to use improvised fuses or to
bridge fuse holders.
To replace fuses, disconnect the meter from the circuit to be
measured and switch it off. Remove all connected lines and
test-lead tips. Use a suitable cross-head screwdriver and
carefully open the casing. Remove the faulty fuse(s) and replace
with fuses of the same type and nominal current strength: 0.5 A
fast-blow, 250 V; standard designation: F 0.5 A/250 V or 20 A
fast-blow, 250 V; standard designation: F 20 A/250 V.
After replacing the fuse(s), carefully close and screw down the
casing, reversing the above procedure. Do not put the meter
back into use until the casing is securely closed and screwed tight.

• Exercise particular care when dealing with voltages in excess of
25 V alternating current (AC) or 35 V direct current (DC). At
voltages as low as these, it is still possible to suffer a life-threat-
ening shock if contact is made with conducting parts.
• The test-lead tips must be removed from the object for measur-
ing before any change of measuring range.
• Before each measuring operation, ensure that you have check-
ed your meter and any connecting lines for visible damage.
• The capacitances to be measured (capacitors) must be com-
pletely discharged before measuring commences.
• It is not permissible to carry out measurements on components
or circuitry or the like under voltage. This involves a distinct risk
to life if contact is made with voltages in excess of 25 VACrms
or 35 VDC.
• Do not use the meter in spaces or unsuitable surrounding con-
ditions in which flammable gasses, vapours or dust are, or may
be, present.
• For your own safety, avoid any possibility of the meter or mea-
suring leads becoming damp or wet.
• When measuring, use only the measuring leads supplied with
the meter. No other leads may be used.
• To avoid any possibility of electric shock, ensure that you do not
come into contact, even indirectly, with the test-lead tips and
the connections being measured (measuring points) during the
measuring operation.
• When it can be assumed that safe operation is no longer
possible, the appliance must be taken out of use and made safe
from the possibility of being accidentally switched on. It can be
assumed that safe operation is no longer possible when
- there is visible damage to the appliance
- the appliance no longer works
