• Do not use the measuring device in rooms in which combustible
gases, vapours or dust are or may be present, or under any ad-
verse ambient conditions. For your own safety, make sure that
the measuring device and any measuring cables do not become
damp or wet.
• To avoid electric shock, make sure that the measuring contacts
and the terminals to be measured (measuring points) are not tou-
ched either directly or indirectly during the measurement.
• If it can be assumed that safe operation is no longer possible,
the unit is to be shut down and secured against unintentional
operation. It can be assumed that safe operation is no longer
possible if,
- the unit has visible damage,
- the unit is no longer operating and
- after a long period of storage under unsatisfactory conditions
or
- after severe transport stresses.
• Do not switch on the unit immediately after it has been brought
from a cold room into a warm room. The condensation produced
by this can under certain circumstances damage the unit. Allow
the unit to reach room temperature before switching on.

a1 Commissioning, preparation
Before initial commissioning, ensure that the module is adequately
isolated and maintain the clearances and creepage distances in ac-
cordance with VDE 0411 or VDE 410 and IEC-1010-1.
Set the required decimal point by means of the soldering jumper on
the relevant „pads" (always two). When all the adjustments have
been made and the panelmeter fitted into its relevant housing
cutout (max. material thickness 2 mm), connect a controlled (stabi-
lised) SELV 5 V.d.c. to the power supply input, ensuring that the
polarity (+ and -) is correct.
With this module it is not possible to supply the
measuring device and measure the supply voltage
at the same time.
To ensure a relatively problem-free use/operation, avoid
• large fluctuations in temperature,
• high humidity,
• strong vibration,
• ambient temperature which are too high,
• the vicinity of function generators, strong magnetic (loudspea-
kers), electromagnetic (motors, transformers, repeater relays)
and static (discharges/charges) fields, because all the above
points can lead to an unstable display or excessive measuring
errors.
