Intended use
The product displays the temperature indoors and outdoors as well as the date and the time of day. By means of the
inbuilt DCF-receiver, the time of day and the date can be set automatically and, of course, manually.
By observing the trend for the atmospheric pressure over the last few hours, a weather forecast for the next 12 to 24
hours is calculated and indicated in the display by symbols.
The base station and outdoor sensor are powered by batteries (not included in the delivery, can be ordered sepa-
rately).
Always observe the safety instructions and all other information included in these operating instructions.

Safety Instructions
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe these safety
instructions! We do not assume liability for any resulting damage.
We do not assume any liability for material and personal damage caused by improper use or
non-compliance with the safety instructions. In such cases, the warranty will be null and void.
• The unauthorised conversion and/or modifi cation of the product is not permitted for safety and ap-
proval reasons (CE). Never dismantle the product.
• The product is not a toy and must be kept out of the reach of children. It should be operated out of the
reach of children.
• The base station is only intended for use in dry, closed interiors, it must not get damp or wet.
• The outdoor sensor is suitable for for use in sheltered outdoor areas (e.g. under a roof overhand).
Never dip the outdoor sensor in or under water; this may destroy it!
• Do not leave packaging material carelessly lying around since it could become a dangerous plaything
for children.
Handle the product with care, it can be damaged by impacts, blows, or accidental drops, even from a
low height.

General information on batteries/rechargeable batteries
• Batteries/rechargeable batteries must be kept out of the reach of children.
• Do not leave batteries/rechargeable batteries lying around; they could be swallowed by children or pets. If swal-
lowed, consult a doctor immediately.
• Leaking, or damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries, in contact with the skin can cause acid burns, therefore, use
suitable protective gloves.
• Batteries/rechargeable batteries must not be short-circuited, opened or thrown into a fi re. There is a risk of explo-
sion!
• Do not recharge normal, non-rechargeable batteries, risk of explosion! Only charge rechargeable batteries that are
intended for this purpose; use a suitable battery charger.
• Never mix standard batteries with rechargeable batteries, use either standard batteries or rechargeable batteries.
• Do not mix batteries/rechargeable batteries with different charge levels (e. g. full and half-full batteries/recharge-
able batteries).
• Always replace the complete set of batteries/rechargeable batteries.
• Check that the polarity is correct, when inserting the batteries/rechargeable batteries (pay attention to plus/+ and
minus/-).

Getting Started

Because of the lower voltage provided by rechargeable batteries (battery = 1.5 V, rechargeable battery
= 1.2 V) and their lower capacity, the battery life is shorter. Moreover, rechargeable batteries are more
temperature sensitive than normal batteries. For this reason, we recommend the product be only used

with high-quality alkaline batteries to ensure a long and safe operation.
• Open the battery compartment on the rear of the outdoor sensor and insert two batteries of type AAA/Micro with
the correct polarity. Close the battery compartment.
• Open the battery compartment on the rear of the base station and insert two batteries of type AA/Mignon with the
correct polarity. Close the battery compartment.
• After the batteries are inserted in the base station, all display segments will be shown briefl y; then the base station
starts to search for available outdoor sensors. In the left part of the display, the reception symbol "
During this time, do not move the base station and the outdoor sensor or press any buttons.
• After about 2 minutes, the sensor search ends. The base station then begins to search for the DCF signal. To the
left of the time, the reception symbol "
can take about 5 minutes, before the time signal has been detected and analysed and the correct time appears in
the display. During this time, do not move the base station or press any buttons.
• If the correct time still has not been displayed after about 10 minutes, change the setup location and start a new
search for the DCF signal (see below).
• The outdoor sensor can be mounted in a suitable location using the enclosed bracket, e.g. under a carport. The
bracket can be used either as a base or as wall or ceiling bracket for the outdoor sensor. Using the suspension
hole, the bracket with the outdoor sensor attached to it can also be hung from a screw or nail.

The outdoor sensor is suitable for use in protected outdoor areas. It should be placed such so it is not
exposed to direct sunlight, since this can result in a false temperature reading.
Precipitation falling on the sensor will also lead to a false temperature reading, since this cools the
housing.
Therefore, we recommend you choose the installation place carefully, so the sensor measures the cor-
rect temperature.
Never dip the outside sensor in or under water; this may destroy it!
Switching DCF Signal On/Off, Starting Manual Search
The DCF signal is a signal broadcast from a transmitter in Mainfl ingen (near Frankfurt am Main). Its range is up to
1,500 km and, under ideal reception conditions, even up to 2,000 km. Among other things, the DCF signal includes
the precise time (theoretical deviation of 1 second in a million years!) and the date. Of course, the complicated
manual adjustment of the daylight saving time on the base station is not necessary because the change to daylight
saving time and back to standard time takes place automatically (during summer time/daylight saving time the symbol
"
" appears to the right of the time).
The fi rst attempt to receive the DCF signal is performed when the batteries are inserted. Further reception attempts
are performed during the day (01.00 am, 02.00 am, 03.00 am, 04.00 am, 06.00 am, 09.00 am, 12.00 am, 03.00 pm,
06.00 pm and 12.00 pm). Just one successful reception per day keeps the deviation of the quartz clock built in the
base station to less than one second.
• If you want to set the date and time manually (e.g. if no DCF reception is possible, such as in a cellar), the DCF
reception must be turned off. Press and hold the "UP" button for about 3 seconds, until the DCF symbol to the left
of the time disappears. To then set the date and time, see the appropriate sections of this operating manual.
• To switch it on again, press and hold the "UP" button for about 3 seconds once again. The base station will then
start a new search for the DCF signal. To the left of the time, the reception symbol "
detected, the symbol changes to "
and analysed and the correct time appears in the display. During this time, do not move the base station or press
any buttons.
Manual Search for Outdoor Sensors

A manual search for the outdoor sensor can be started from the base station, e.g. if the outdoor sensor can be no
longer found after a battery replacement. Proceed as follows:
• Start the sensor search by pressing and holding the "DOWN" button for about 3 seconds, until the symbol "
the left of the display fl ashes.
• The sensor search lasts about 2 minutes, the search process the ends automatically.

The sensor transmits its measuring data to the base station approx. every 45 seconds. Thus, it may take
a while until the temperature indication appears in the base station's display.

• Press and hold the "MODE" button, until the language for the weekday indication fl ashes in the lower right of the
display.

Set the date using the "UP" or "DOWN" button (keep the button pressed longer for quick adjustment).
• Briefl y press the "MODE" button, the order for displaying the month ("M") and date ("D") fl ashes in the display.
The order can now be changed using the "UP" or "DOWN" buttons ("D M" = Day/Month, "M D" = Month/Day).
