Safety Instructions

Please read through the entire instructions carefully before operation of the
device. They contain important information on its correct operation. The warranty
will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe these safety
instructions! We do not assume any liability for any consequential damage!
We do not assume any liability for material and personal damage caused by
improper use or non-compliance with the safety instructions! The warranty will be
void in such cases.
• For safety and approval (CE) reasons, unauthorised conversion and/or modifications
of the product are not permitted. Never dismantle the product.
• The design of the AC transformer complies with protection class II. As a source of volt-
age, only a proper power socket (230V~, 50Hz) connected to the public power supply
grid may be used.
• The product is intended for use in dry indoor locations, it must not get damp or wet; dan-
ger of life by an electric shock!
• Do not allow children to play with the device. Children cannot assess the dangers aris-
ing from incorrect use of electrical devices. Therefore, be especially careful when chil-
dren are around. Operate the product only out of reach of children; the product contains
glass (display), parts that can be swallowed as well as a battery.
• When the product is brought from a cold into a warm room condensation may form.
Wait until the product has reached room temperature before using it, otherwise there
is the danger of a life threatening electric shock!
• Do not leave packing materials unattended. They may become dangerous playthings
for children.
• Handle the product with care, it can be damaged by impact, blows, or accidental drops,
even from a low height.
Battery notes
• Keep batteries out of reach of children.
• Do not leave the batteries lying around openly; there is a risk of them being swallowed by children or
domestic animals. If swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.
• Leaking or damaged batteries can burn your skin if touched. Therefore, if the case may be, use pro-
tective gloves.
• Batteries may not be short-circuited, dismantled or thrown into fire. There is a risk of explosion!
• Conventional batteries must not be recharged. Risk of explosion!
• Please observe correct polarity (plus/+ and minus/-) when inserting the battery.
Start-up
• Connect the AC transformer to the mains socket (230V~/50Hz). The background illumination of the
display will now be activated.
• Insert a "CR2032ì battery into the battery compartment of the radio table clock. Maybe there has
already been a battery inserted by the manufacturer and only a protection strip is to be removed from
the battery clip (protection against early discharging of the battery).
Slide open the battery case lid at the back of the radio table clock downwards.
Now the battery can be inserted into the battery bracket. The positive battery pole (one side of the
"CR2032" is marked with the symbol "+") has to point outwards in your direction. At first insert the
battery on the side opposing the clip and push it down until it catches in place. Do not use force!
If the battery has already been inserted by the manufacturer, check whether a protective strip is there
and, if present, remove it.
Put the cover on so that it snaps in.

DCF Reception
• Directly after connnecting the clock to the mains supply the
firstly attempts to receive the DCF signal.
It is a signal which is broadcast from a sender in Mainflingen
(near Frankfurt am Main). Its range is up to 1500 km and,
under ideal reception conditions, even up to 2000 km.
Inter alia the DCF signal contains the exact time of day (accu-
racy is theoretically 1 second in 1 million years!) and the date.
Of course there is also no need to set the summer and winter
time manually.
The first attempt to receive the DCF signal is always conducted on initial operation (connecting the
AC transformer of the radio table clock to the mains supply.
A bad reception can also be caused by, e.g. metallized insulated glass, reinforced concrete con-
struction design, coated special wallpaper or an installation in cellars.
• If there still is no current Time/Date shown in the display after 5 minutes change the installation loca-
tion of the display unit.
Alternatively you can briefly press the button "RESET" inside the battery case.
• Attempts of reception for the daily synchronisation with the DCF-time are each done at night at
2 o'clock, 3 o'clock, 4 o'clock and 5 o'clock since the least disturbances by electronic devices can
usually be assumed for this time.
Switching on/off DCF reception
• Keep pressing the button "-" for about 2 second in order to activate the DCF-reception; the radio tow-
er symbol in the upper right of the display disappears.
• For turning on the DCF reception hold pressed the button "+" for about 2 seconds until the radio tow-
er symbol appears in the upper right of the display.
Then an attempt at receiption is started automatically.
Setting the time of day manually
• Press and hold the "ALARM" button as long as necessary (approx. 2 seconds) until the year in the
display starts flashing.
• With the button "+" or "-" the momentarily displayed value can be changed. If the respective button
is pressed for a longer period of time, quick adjustment is performed.
• By briefly pressing the button "ALARM" you can switch to the settings of the month, the date, the hour
and minute and can set the desired value by using "+" or "-", too.
• At the end of the cycle (after setting the minutes and then followed by a short pressing of the button
"ALARM") the time reappears and the settings mode is terminated.
Select the mode 12h/24h
If the normal time of day is displayed briefly press the button "-" in order to switch between the modes
12h/24h.
Using the mode 12h a "PM" appears in the display left to the hours during the second half of the day.

Alarm function

a) setting the alarm
• If the alarm is turned off press the button "ALARM" then the present alarm time is displayed and the
hours of the alarm time are flashing.
• If you do not press any button for a few seconds the usual display of the time reappears.
b) setting the alarm
• If the alarm is turned off press the button "ALARM" then the present alarm time is displayed and the
hours of the alarm time are flashing.
• Using the button "+" or "-" you can set the hours of the alarm time. For a quick adjustment hold the
corresponding button for a longer period of time.
• Confirm the settings by briefly pressing the ìALARMî button.
• The minutes of the alarm time start flashing.
• Using the button "+" or "-" you can set the minutes of the alarm time. For a quick adjustment hold the
corresponding button for a longer period of time.
• Confirm the setting by briefly pressing the button "ALARM"; the manual setting of the alarm time is
now finished; the present time of day appears.
If no displays appears or if only random characters are visible remove the battery, dis-
connect the AC transformer from the mains power and wait for one minute. Then proceed
as described above; first connect the AC transformer to the mains power and only then
insert the supporting battery.
Alternatively you can briefly press the button "RESET" inside the battery case.
The recognition and interpretation of the DCF signal can take 3-5 minutes. Do not move
the radio table clock during that time. Do not use any buttons.
If there is a faultless DCF reception (radio tower symbol visible) it cannot be turned off by
the button "-". Instead of this proceed again as described under "Setting the time of day
manually", see below.
The radio table clock has to be set to normal display of the time of day
(hours/minutes/seconds).
This has only to be done if there is no DCF reception possible, e.g. in a basement.
