The category actually attained depends on the
external circuit, the design of the wiring, the
selection of the control switches and their
placement on the machine.
The UE43 xAR safety relay has been evaluated
to UL 508.
Tactile safety sensors (e.g. safety switches,
emergency stop pushbuttons) are connected
to the safety relays. The corresponding actu-
ators of the machines or systems can be
switched off safely via the switching outputs
of the safety relays.

Commissioning and regular
tests
Commissioning requires a thorough check
by qualified safety personnel!
Before the initial commissioning of the
system in which you are using a UE43 xAR
safety relay, it must be checked and
released documented by qualified safety
personnel.
Check the hazardous area!
You must ensure that no one is located in
the hazardous area before commissioning.
Control the hazardous area and secure it
against entry. Observe the relevant laws
and local regulations.

protective devices by qualified

intervals specified in the national rules and

regulations. This procedure ensures that any
changes on the machine or manipulations of the
protective device after the initial commissioning
are detected.
The safety relays must be cyclically
tested!
In order to reach the required safety level
(see "Technical specifications"), the follo-
wing test must be performed at least every
365 days:
The UE43 xAR must be powered down.
The UE43 xAR must be powered up.
All safety functions of the connected
equipment must be verified.
Have the application in which the safety relays
are used checked at regular intervals by quali-
fied safety personnel or appropriately authorised
personnel. The effectiveness of the protective
devices must be checked daily by a specialist or
by authorised personnel.
If changes have been made to the machine or
the protective device, or the safety relay has
been changed or repaired, you must again
thoroughly check the entire safety application.

Diagnostics

7.1
In the event of faults or errors
Cease operation if the cause of the mal-
function has not been clearly identified!
Stop the machine if you cannot clearly
identify or allocate the error and if you
cannot safely rectify the malfunction.
Complete function test after rectification
of fault!
After rectifying a fault, perform a complete
function test.
