9. OPERATION

a) Absolute power measurement

With this method, you can measure the power of an optical output in connection with the con-
nected optical fibre cable.
For absolute power measurement, proceed as follows:
• Switch on the PM-22 (A4).
• Select the correct wavelength (A10).
• Remove the protective cap of the measuring input (A7).
• Connect the optical fibre cable that is connected to the object to be measured to measuring
input (A7).
You may need to switch the adapter first. Observe chapter 8 b).
• After a brief wait, the measured result should be displayed. If required, wait until the display
has stabilised and a clear value is displayed.
The main display (B3) shows the power level in the unit "dBm".
In the secondary display (B6), the measured value is displayed as "mW", "µW" or "nW". The
display automatically switches to the proper range.
