12. Troubleshooting

By purchasing this product you have acquired a state-of-the-art product which oper-
ates reliably. Nevertheless, problems or malfunctions may occur. We would there-
fore like to describe how you can eliminate possible malfunctions:
Problem
Device cannot be
switched on
There is no radio
connection.
Range too short.
No radio message
can be heard.
Bad reception
A short hissing is
heard repeatedly.

Solution
The positive terminals of the batteries do not touch the
positive contact springs of the device. The positive contacts
of the rechargeable batteries are too wide.
Use rechargeable batteries with smaller positive contacts.
Rechargeable batteries are weak. Recharge the batteries.
Rechargeable batteries are weak. Recharge the batteries.
The wrong radio channel/sub-channel
is set. Match the channels.
Radio signals are shielded off by buildings, steel structures
or trees.
There are strong sources of interference in the vicinity
(wireless phone, electric motor, etc.). Change your position.
You are operating the device too close to your body.
Your walkie-talkie is currently transmitting.
Volume is set too low.
Other devices cause interferences, keep a distance.
Batteries are weak.
Steel structures, trees, etc. attenuate the signal.
The squelch opens for a short time
because a signal is received. The possible reason is:
- electric devices in the vicinity of the walkie-talkies cause
interferences.
- the received radio signal is exactly at the threshold of the
squelch function.
