Multiple Handsets

Up to two handsets can be registered on the base station. Each handset can be registered
on up to four base stations simultaneously (refer to Chapter 13).
Caution: If both handsets are to be used in future with a different base station,
they must first be deregistered from the old base station. If neither of the hand-
sets is deregistered, the two registrations still exist on the old base station and
no new handsets can be registered on it.
Note: The standardised GAP Standard enables SWITEL handsets and even those
from other manufacturers to be integrated in the telephone system. In the same
way, a SWITEL handset can be registered on base stations from other
manufacturers as long as they comply with the GAP Standard.
The following options are available if two handsets are used:

Internal calls between the handsets (intercom),

External calls can be transferred from the handset,
S
Incoming external calls are received on all handsets.
Note: If one handset is currently using the outside line, no further external call is
possible.
GAP: Generic Access Profile = Standard for the interoperation of handsets and base
stations from other manufacturers.

Registering and deregistering handsets

12.1.1 Registering BDT-650 handsets
1. Press the Paging button on the base station until two acoustic signals are
issued. The new handset must be registered on the base station within 180
seconds.

If the handset is registered on several base stations, the numbers assigned for
them are displayed continuously. In the case of a new registration, the numbers
to already used can be assigned new base stations. The old registration on

the respective number is automatically overwritten.
