Before Startup

5.1

Switching on the main switch

Prior to start/safety test

DANGER
Risk of accident, risk of injury!
If one point of the safety inspection is not met, the vehi-
cle must not be put into operation but must be repaired.
ATTENTION
The safety inspection must be performed before each use
of the vehicle.
5.2.1
Checks on the hind carriage of the vehi-
cle
Check the hydraulic oil level.
Check engine oil level.
Check the coolant level.
If frost is expected, check if there is enough antifreeze
in the coolant.
See Chapter "Maintenance work"
5.2.2
Walk around the vehicle and check the
following
Check the hydraulic connections for cleanliness.
Check the hydraulic lines for leaks.
Check the fuel lines and connections for leaks.
Check the electrical lines for damage.
Screws and nuts.
Check vehicle, motor and radiator grille for damage.
Cleanliness of motor air filter
Cleanliness of the cabin dust filter
Check fluid level in the wiper fluid container.
Tyre pressures, possible tyre wear.
Note: Tyre pressures differ according to the load on the
axles - see Chapter "Specifications/Tyre Pressure Ta-
ble"

Refuelling

DANGER
Risk of explosion!
Do not refuel the machine in enclosed spaces.
Smoking and open flames must be strictly avoided.
Ensure that no fuel reaches the hot open surfaces.
CAUTION
Only use the fuels specified in the Operations Manual.
Switch off engine.
Open fuel filler cap.
Fill in diesel.
Set main switch to "1".
Is the main switch switched on?

Check while sitting on the vehicle
Check the drive pedal for easy movement.
Is the emergency brake locked?
Are the switches for the work hydraulics switched
off?
Check if all indicator lamps are working: When switch-
ing on the ignition, all indicator lamps must light up
briefly. If one is not on, it is defective and must be re-
placed.
With the ignition turned on: Are the warning lamps for
battery charging and oil pressure illuminated?
5.2.4
Start the motor and check
Do the warning lamps for battery charge indicator and
oil pressure shut off?
Does operating hour counter and temperature control
work?
Are the lights and the direction indicator system func-
tioning?
Check the neutral position of the accelerator pedal with
vehicle variant MDC (Mechanic Drive Train Control) on-
ly: Drive the vehicle forwards and backwards. When the
accelerator pedal is released, the vehicle must stop in
every direction of travel.
Check the exhaust system for leaks.
During a short test drive, listen for abnormal sounds
and check for vibrations.
Insert the fuelling gun as deep as possible into the fuel
nozzle. Do not add any more fuel once the fuelling gun
stops according to the settings.
Wipe off any spilt fuel and close fuel filler cap.

Fuelling using a can
CAUTION
Estimate the fuel requirement in order to avoid overflows.
