Replace all fuel tank and container caps securely.
•
Replace faulty silencers.
•
Before using, always visually inspect to see that the tools
are not worn out or damaged. Replace worn out or
damaged elements and bolts in sets to preserve balance.
•
Do not operate the engine in a confined space where
dangerous carbon monoxide fumes can collect.
•
Work only in daylight or in good artificial light.
•
Always be sure of your footing on slopes.
•
Walk, never run with the machine.
•
Do not work on excessively steep slopes.
•
Do not change the engine governor settings or overspeed
the engine.
•
Start the engine carefully according to manufacturer
instructions and with feet well away from the tool.
•
Do not put your hands or feet near or under the rotating
parts.
•
Never pick up or carry a machine while the engine is
running.
•
Stop the engine:
–
Whenever you leave the machine.
–
Before refueling.
•
Reduce the throttle setting during engine shut down and, if
the engine is provided with a shut-off value, turn the fuel
off at the conclusion of working.
•
Keep all nuts, bolts and screws tight to ensure the
equipment is in safe working condition.
•
Never store the equipment with petrol in the tank inside a
building where fumes can reach an open flame or spark.
•
All the engine to cool before string in any enclosure.
•
To reduce the fire hazard, keep the engine, silencer, battery
compartment and petrol storage area free of vegetative
material and excessive grease.
•
Replace worn or damaged parts for safety.
•
If the fuel tank has to be drained, this shall be done
outdoors.
4.1
Attire
•
Wear a long-sleeved shirt and long trousers closed at the
cuff.
•
Do not wear a neck-tie or other loosely dangling garments.
Such articles may become entangled in the drill when
working.
•
Wear protective goggles to protect your eyes from flying
objects.
•
Wear a work cap when working on flat ground and a helmet
when working on slopes.
•
Wear work shoes with non-slip soles.
•
Wear ear plugs or other adequate devices to protect the
ear drum from noise.
4.2
Environmental precautions
•
Do not work for long periods of time in summer and winter.
Take breaks frequently.
•
Do not use the auger in the rain. The possibility of you
slipping is increased when the ground is wet.
•
Do not use the auger indoors or in poorly ventilated places.
Exhausts are poisonous.
4.3
Strictly No Fire
This equipment runs on gasoline.
•
Do not smoke or use live flames in the vicinity of the auger.
•
Do not remove the gas cap or refuel while the engine is
running or hot.
•
Wipe the body clean of any spilled gasoline after refueling.
•
Ensure at least 3 m distance from fuel sources when
starting the equipment up.
•
Keep flammables away from the muffler and the exhaust
path.
•
Store fuel in approved containers only and keep in a cool
place.
4.4
Checks before start-up
•
Check whether all bolts and nuts are securely tight. Tighten
where necessary.
•
Check the cutting blades are well filed and void of chipping,
cracking or bending. Never use a drill when damaged.
4.5
Cautions during usage
•
Do not allow other persons within 5m of the worksite. It is
dangerous for pets and children to be near the equipment
when it is being operated.
•
Use caution when drilling through rock and ground. The
equipment may reverse.
•
It is dangerous to use the auger in an awkward or
uncomfortable position.
•
Be sure to stop the engine before allowing persons to
approach within 5 m of the equipment. Make sure anyone
approaching the auger approaches it from the front.
•
Always stop the engine and take the necessary precautions
when suspending work or moving to another location.
•
Do not allow children, or anyone unskilled in equipment
usage, to operate the equipment.
•
Never touch the drill while the engine is running. Be sure
the engine is off and the drill has stopped rotating before
handing it.
•
Beware of the drill when in rotation. Keep hands, other
body parts, and clothes away from the drill.
•
Make sure the drill has completely stopped before placing it
on the ground.
•
Idle the engine when the drill is excessively loaded or when
rotation has stopped.
•
