2. Cassette Deck

Measuring instruments/equipment:
Frequency counter, AF voltmeter, AF generator, distortion analyzer, wow and flutter meter,
Cr test cassette 448 A (part no. 35079-023.00), torque test cassette 456 (part no. 35079-014.00).
Layout of adjustment controls see page 2-10 .
Adjustment
1. Tape speed Frequency counter to test point L. LINE OUT or to test
point R. LINE OUT.
Insert test cassette 448 A,
play back 3150Hz.
2. Take-up torque Load the torque test cassette 456 einlegen.

Wow and flutter meter to test point L. LINE OUT or to R.
LINE OUT.
Load test cassette 448 A.
Play back 3150Hz.
4. MPX-filter AF-voltmeter to test point L. DOLBY (left channel) or to
(19 kHz stereo test point R. DOLBY (right channel).

V = 50mV, f = 400Hz or 19kHz.

7. Head gap angle AF-voltmeter to test point L. LINE OUT or to test point

Insert test cassette 448 A.
Play back 10kHz.
The head adjustment screws are accessible by removing
the cassette compartment lid (with open cassette
compartment push the cover upwards).
9. Playback level AF-voltmeter to test point L. DOLBY (left channel) or to

With adjustment control SVR106 set the frequency to

3150Hz 1%.
On START, the torque should be 25 to 70 x 10
≈ 40g-cm.
Deviation < 0.13% (IEC wtd). Playback measuring time
≥ 30 seconds.
At 400Hz, the reference voltage measured at the test point
L. DOLBY or R. DOLBY is 0dB (ref).
At 19kHz, set the voltage level at test point L. DOLBY and
L

test point R. DOLBY to minimum (≤ -30dB) using F124

The oscillator frequency should be 85kHz
Adjust with L401.
Erase current:

Cr.: 95mA 10% measured at R413 = 95mV

With the head adjustment screw 1 set the left or right
channel to maximum level.
Then connect the left channel in parallel with the right
channel. By minimum re-adjustment of the head adjustment
screw 1 set the output level to maximum.
Turn around the test cassette.
Tape direction: "Reverse"
Adjustment with head adjustment screw 2 is the same as
in the "Normal" tape direction.
