8. Commissioning of the Mobile Unit

a) Insert Rechargeable Batteries
• Open the battery compartment lid (16) of the mobile unit by pushing it out downwards.
• Insert two NiMH rechargeable batteries of type AAA/Micro into the rechargeable battery compartment
in the correct polarity.
Never insert any non-rechargeable batteries, but only rechargeable NiMH batteries. Otherwise,
there is the danger of damage to the mobile unit, as well as danger of fire and explosion (if the
mobile unit is pushed into the basis station for recharging with non-rechargeable batteries).
• Put on the lid of the rechargeable battery compartment so that it will latch.
Rechargeable batteries do not have an unlimited service life. If you find that the operating dura-
tion of the mobile unit is only very short in spite of fully charged rechargeable batteries, replace
the two NiMH rechargeable batteries by rechargeable batteries of the same type.
You need two NiMH rechargeable batteries of type AAA/Micro (rated voltage 1.2 V). The capacity
of the rechargeable batteries should be at least at 600 mAh.

b) Connecting the Basis Station

• Connect the socket (20) to the corresponding phone socket of your phone grid operator with the enc-
losed phone cable and a suitable adapter.
A TAE adapter for Germany is enclosed. For other counties, you need a matching adapter that is
available as an accessory.
• Connect the low-voltage round plug of the enclosed plug-in mains adapter to the socket (21) on the rear
of the basis station.
• Put up the basis station on a stable, level, flat and sufficiently sized area. Protect expensive furniture
surfaces from impressions and scratches and discolouration with suitable pads.
Keep enough distance from metal surfaces, microwave ovens, mobile phones or other electrical de-
vices. Otherwise, the range may reduce strongly.
If required, use a phone extension cable to place the basis station elsewhere.
• Plug the plug-in mains unit into a proper mains socket.
