Instructions for use
These instructions for use are general instructions for the product described and do not replace user training.
Intensive instruction and practice are essential for the use and maintenance of the rescue harness with carrying
function. In addition, users must be physically and mentally fit and not under the influence of intoxicants.
Inadequate training, incorrect use and misuse of the product can lead to accidents. The instructions for use and
the information and instructions contained therein must be carefully observed and complied with.
1. General application
The rescue harness with carrying function has been developed for rescuing injured persons from areas with
difficult access. The rescue harness is used for horizontal and vertical transportation of injured persons from
exposed positions for rope and air rescue. The injured person is enclosed in tear-resistant, water-repellent
nylon fabric and secured with the integrated rescue harness. This ensures the safety of the injured person and
minimizes the physical exertion of the rescue team. The rescue harness with carrying function may only be
used within the specified operating conditions and for the intended purpose.
Any combination of different equipment can cause unpredictable hazardous situations and have a negative
impact on the safety of the user.
2. Areas of application
Rescue from wind turbines, confined spaces and rescue from heights.
3. User training
The emergency personnel must be sufficiently trained and familiar with the use of the rescue harness with
carrying function before using it for the first time. This instruction manual must always be referenced during
initial training as well as during repeat training. The training must be repeated at least once a year and the type,
scope, participants and date of the training must be strictly documented.
4. Product description
The rescue harness with carrying function "TURTLE transform" is a combination of patient transport equipment
and rescue harness and has been tested and certified by a notified testing body in accordance with the
standards DIN EN 1497:2007 and DIN EN 1865-1:2015 clause 5.4.1. The product is a rescue system made of
textile materials for the rescue and transportation of accident victims and/or injured persons. The textile cover
(a) encloses the person from the chest to the buttocks. It is fastened with large Velcro straps. Two lashing
straps (b) with adjustable buckles are used to secure the cover to the person close to the body. Inside the
stretcher there is a system of load-bearing longitudinal, transverse and diagonal straps which support the body
load of the person during rescue and transportation. There is a head loop (c) in the upper section of the system
and a buttock loop (d) in the lower section. These are used for manual positioning of the system in a horizontal
direction by the rescuer. The shoulder straps (e) are equipped with adjustable buckles and can therefore be
adjusted in length. The shoulder straps are in turn connected to the transverse chest strap (f) via two buckles.
