MAINTENANCE
WARNING: To ensure safety and reliability and avoid the risk of personal injury, all repairs — except those involving
the externally accessible carbon brushes — should be performed by a qualified service technician at an Authorised
Ryobi Service Centre.
11.1
BRUSH REPLACEMENT
See Figure 34.
Your saw has externally accessible carbon brushes that should be periodically checked for wear.
Proceed as follows to replace the carbon brushes:
Unplug your saw.
WARNING: Failure to unplug your saw could result in accidental starting causing serious injury.
Remove the brush cap with a screwdriver. The brush assembly is spring-loaded and will pop out when you remove
the brush cap.
Remove the brush.
Check for wear. Replace both brushes when either has less than 6 mm (1/4") length of carbon remaining. Do not replace
one side without replacing the other.
Always use new carbon brushes when replacement is required. Make sure the curvature of the brush matches
the curvature of the motor and that the brush moves freely in the brush tube.
Make sure the brush cap is positioned correctly (straight) and put it back in place.
Tighten the brush cap securely. Do not overtighten.
